Akira Live Action Movie
I searched and didn't find anything on this so...
I really enjoyed the Anime and it's easily one of my favorite anime movies. I really don't think they can pull this off though. For example at the end of the movie when Tetsuo turns into a giant blob of flesh. I hope it doesn't look like Deacon Frost from Blade. IMDB also has Leonardo Dicaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt rumoured for it. The Release date is 2009. I was just wondering what you guys think about this.   "Showing off is the fool's idea of glory."

I know Gary "Gaz" Whitta is on the script either by himself or as part of a team. (He was the former editor of PC Gamer before heading out to test his luck as a script-writer - he's also a regular on the Game Theory podcast.)
That's all I know but it sounds like it could be really, really cool if done properly.

It could rock or it could suck. I wouldn't trust any rumors about a movie until it's in post production. Because sometimes, even movies in production (ala Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote) don't make it.
I've heard too many rumors, from Tim Burton option on Mai back in the 90's to the James Cameron Battle Angel plans.

not seen much info on this but here's what Ive seen but none of it is authenticated:
it's going to be set in a post New York, storyline is similiar though not quite same as actual Anime and plz let this not be true leo Dicaprio is supposed to play one of the main roles(oh I really hope not) good trades:Caravaggio, Gabbi, Drfeelgood,aljovin,vydar,rrhino,boom, Pallindromemaster, spidysox, Eckels, wytefang, Rym, Armegeddon, Fatboy Chubby, Forgehammer, Grison

This project has been in development for so long now, if it were HeroScape, it would be on wave 33.
And what's this about Neo New York? That's just silly. Also, so much of the film would be animated, if in CG, that it would barely qualify as "live-action". I'm knida glad George Lucas finally went the extra 10% with Star Wars films.
