Re: Mister Freeze - Design
I think most were underwhelmed by his first version's effectiveness, and the 2nd version felt unnecessarily clunky and maybe a bit off in theme logistics. This aims to be a fun, useful, straight forward Freeze. Lots of strategic battlefield control and unblockable cold damage.
The intent of Wall of Ice is that you can re-place the Ice Rocks each round, at your desire. So if you place all 4 down in one round, creating a wall of ice, the next round you can re-place as many of those as you want, re-using the same ones, including using them again if they were destroyed. I believe the rest is clear. Should he have Toxic Immunity? Wiki says yes, but I'm good either way. Should he be in the Injustice faction or Gotham Underworld? |

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
I do like the idea of taking the best ideas of both and re-implementing as one great card.
Arkham will get him into some great thematic Gotham builds and on faction I'd lean more into Injustice I think over Underworld. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
I like the design a lot over the 1.0 versions. A little concerned about Freeze Ray roll 2 damage dice with a range of 4. Seems like it might be better as a once a round power? Feels like a lot of juice for a 230 point figure.

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
Average of 1 wound per turn isn't too crazy, right? Moon Knight(150) for the longest time had 2 rolls of 9 or higher for a wound on 2 different figures, range of 5. Now even in 2.0 he's at 11 or higher which is what it would be here. Granted, 2 different figures instead of at 1. If you're rolling hot it could get nasty, but that's the case with straight up attacks too.
If we went once per round, that might feel a bit weak, and then he's just left with melee, which doesn't feel very Mr. Freeze? |

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
Definitely think once-per-round feels a bit weak. Do we have any fair comparisons from around the same point bracket as Freeze? (So 200-250?) Moon Knight is a bit of a weird one cause in 1.0 he was definitely “too good” and was also practically a single-ability unit a lot of the time, but he’s also 80 cheaper than what we have projected here.
Maybe worst comes to worst, he does damage on shields instead of skulls? That feels unique. |

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
For 230 points, I'm willing to see how he feels in practice. 4 Life/6 Defense with no defensive abilities means he probably won't get too many rolls off before falling.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
I guess my worry is that its 2 damage dice against a single figure. Most of those auto wound powers have to hit multiple targets, like Moon Knight and Yondu for example.

You can see Swamp Thing for how we handled cardless DOs there.
What’s the logic behind Toxic Resistance, btw? |

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
I'm assuming his being in the suit protects him from things like gasses and poisons, etc.

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
Did you feel like Bats hit the mark here? Personally if Iron Man's suit doesn't protect him, I have a hard time imagining other suits doing so.

Re: Mister Freeze - Design
It's average of 1 wound per activation as-is. If we went shields, I'm not too sure it'd even be worth the attempt.
Alternatively we can make it against 2 figures if that helps. It probably won't hurt too much. He may feel a little weaker than Moon Knight offensively, but if he comes down points that's not too bad either. |
