Re: The Book of Iron Man (Avengers) - Initial Playtesting
Excellent, I look forward to reading it.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.
Re: The Book of Iron Man (Avengers) - Initial Playtesting
- Theme Test - Definite Pass - He feels just like Tony Stark as I know him! - Mirror Test - Pass
- Bonding Test - Pass - Synergies Test - Pass - No change - Power Check - Tentative Pass - I really want to see him in that Joker build... Reorganised Chaos is a really strong power, and I don't want that build to be inflating Stark's cost. Otherwise, though, I'm happy. - Fun Test - Definite Pass! - I found him loads of fun, though I might be biased in that I'm playing one of my favourite characters. - Fun Competitive Test - Pass - I had no issues fighting him. - Drafting Test - Pass - I would, ideally with Cap but really with any or all of the Avengers leaders. Hell, maybe even solo from time to time. - Usage Test - Pass - All his powers received use. Even the clear sight bonus, which is a little niche, is notable in that it's one more thing you don't have to worry about. Also, none of his arsenal options felt like they outright outmatched any others or that they were the least useful - all are excellent when deployed at the right time. - Strategy Test - Pass - Between his Avengers interactions and the breadth of his arsenal, he’s really quite strategic.

Winter Soldier comes out of stasis with a new mission: kill Tony Stark. (I mean, he’s already killed his parents, so why not?)
The Avengers claim the initiative thanks to Stark’s influence. One Fire Ant Swarm tunnels next to Red Skull, while another tunnels next to Winter Soldier. Jason shambles up to Stark as Winter Soldier advances. Stark attempts to fire two shots, but his first shot at Jason is shrugged off. Jason strikes back, inflicting a wound on Stark.
Red Skull steps on some ants, killing them. Winter Soldier slips away from the ants and fires a shot at Stark from low ground, which bounces off his armour.

The Avengers claim the initiaitive, Bucky advances and Cap runs forwards and throws his shield at Jason, killing him.
Red Skull advances and transfers a wound from himself to Cap with the Cube, before striking a tree and forcing it to collapse on Captain America. Winter Soldier advances and fires an ineffectual shot at Cap.

Jason appears next to Captain America. Cap punches him for a wound before Jason strikes back, inflicting a wound on him.

Jason charges Black Bat and takes his machete to her back - despite her defensive premonition kicking in, he still brutalises her, inflicting two wounds.
Black Bat is caught in an Adhesive X Trap and Jason strikes her for another wound.
Jason takes Black Bat’s head.
Masters of Evil victorious - Baron Heinrich Zemo unwounded, Jason Voorhees 1 wound, Penguin unwounded.
Overview: Wow, that Masters of Evil build is brutal! More brutal than I'd expected. Between Red Skull, Penguin protecting Red Skull, Jason constantly making himself impossible to ignore only to come back later, and Winter Soldier performing his missions from a safe distance only to be extracted and given a new assignment this was one deadly force. I'm absolutely cool with those changes being proposed for Red Skull... he's bloody scary! It's unfortunate for the Avengers that Punisher was neutered so efficiently - they could have stood a chance otherwise.
Iron Man was loads of fun - I really love his actual arsenal of weaponry, it felt fun to use and like a real tool-box of options. It's just unfortunate he seemed to be on Jason patrol most of the game... he racked up a tonne of wounds (because Jason has an effective defence of 0+1 auto), but none of them stuck. Ah, well, that's just how it goes sometimes. I can see him around 270, and a fun one at that! I really like him, at least when paired with Cap - need to see how he works without that constant stat bonus. I want him to work well with Cap, perhaps best with Cap, but I don't feel he should need Cap.

Round Seven
Scott claims the initiative and charges Janet, striking her for a wound.
Janet stings Scott once as she flies away.
Scott chases after Janet, but she blocks his blow.
Janet flies away and stings Scott, finishing him off.
Team Iron Man victorious, Wasp 2 wounds. Overview: Doesn’t get much closer than that, does it? Wasp was amazing in clean up, and Black Widow did brilliantly as well, more than making up for Parker’s lackluster performance and snatching victory. I’m pretty happy with Stark, though that time he rolled badly on defence and took two wounds from a single shield throw does sort of illustrate some of my concerns with his low life. I loved how useful all of the options in his arsenal were, though - it really felt like a true variety of weaponry.

Cosmic Threats victorious, Thanos 3 wounds, Doctor Doom 5 wounds.
Overview: Stark’s damage output is a little inflated here by the fact that Doom blanked on his defence - he got lucky, plain and simple. Still, he’s fun to play, even without Captain America and even when his choice of targets only leaves one of his arsenal’s options as being that useful. Honestly... I’m not hung up over buffs and points, I’m happy to send him out at 280 if everyone else is.

LexCorp victorious - Rhino 5 wounds, Wizard 1 wound, 1 LexCorp Security. Overview: Stark did okay here - his offensive potential was decent enough, and, thanks to the map, his clear sight bonus was invaluable (though I haven't stated how or when - not exactly the easiest thing to specify or keep track of, especially on an online map. Just look at the map and trust me when I say it was.) It's a really nice thing not to have to worry about, and being able to take a turn with a Cap-boosted solid ranged flier instead of Cap is pretty nice, and makes Bucky feel less needed in Avengers teams to boot (which is nice, since Mr. Barnes hasn't been Bucky in that respect since World War II...). In the end, though, the Woman of the Match was, without a doubt, Speedy - I bloody love her, she's always done me proud. Two dead LexCorp and two wounds each on Rhino and Luthor is pretty damn awesome for 80 points... that diamond tipped arrow is a gamble I always love to make.
Final Thoughts On The Tested Unit:
I’m really happy with this guy - he’s fun, he’s thematic, he feels just like the Tony Stark I know and love from the MCU. I’m happy to move forward at 280 if there are no objections.
With that, I propose a Vote for Public Playtesting!
Re: The Book of Iron Man (Avengers) - Vote for Public
Hoping to get some tests without other Avengers leaders when we get to wider playtesting, just to make sure he's fun on his own. Doesn't have to be as useful, just fun if you wanted to go with a thematic Civil War type build. (Maybe you've already done that, I forget. )

Yea
I did a Civil War match-up, but that was with a fellow Avengers leader (though the weakest one, Wasp (vII)). I'd definitely love to see some solo tests with him, though, to verify he doesn't need anyone else (though of course he'll always be at his best with back-up!).
Given his 1/3 record, I wouldn't at all be surprised if we made a drop to 270, here.
Re: The Book of Iron Man (Avengers) - Vote for Public
yea
FYI, when I look at and evaluate that last test I see a Tony Stark figure being testing at essentially 260 points as those 3 Ant Swarms provided at best 10 points of value in that match-up.
