Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
Should definitely be a Spider-Man illusion.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
The talk of Hulk and Spider-Man illusions has me sold. I WAS on the fence and liked the previous design, but the future possibilities have won me over.
Semi-Retired C3G Hero (and first Official Member of the C3G Target Audience!) The correct way to add C3G playtests to posts. My favorite day EVER on heroscapers. Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
Though I do have to say, the previous version was a lot more straightforward, which I think is something our fanbase is really craving in general. I think the extent to which we're adding extra mechanics with markers, equipment glyphs, etc., has the chance of alienating people. I think this line of thinking is one of the few things that has given any of our "competition" any bite whatsoever.

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
Well I think some condensing and clean up of the power sets is still in order. For instance there is a lot of movement switcharoo's going on.
We constantly need to the walk the fine line between designing something that is easy to use and play with while striving to keep mechanics innovative and fresh. I think Mysterio is one where we certainly can do something new and a little 'out there' to reflect how interesting the character is. I'd be a little bummed if we didn't do something that tied in his use of [redacted] psyching out his opponents. Last edited by IAmBatman; March 27th, 2012 at 06:26 PM. |

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
For sure, for sure, I definitely can agree with that sentiment. And I just pushed for the same thing on [redacted], so I can't really talk.

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
OK. Did some riffing off of the above write up that Griff and I came up with did some cutting/rearranging of the powers with a few tweaks here and there. Should function in a very similar manner.
NAME = Mysterio SPECIES = Human UNIQUENESS = Unique Hero CLASS = Criminal PERSONALITY = Tricky SIZE/HEIGHT = Medium 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 4 ATTACK = 3 DEFENSE = 3 POINTS = 120? MASTER OF ILLUSION Instead of moving normally with Mysterio, you may choose a small or medium figure within 4 clear sight spaces. Switch Mysterio with the chosen figure. If the chosen figure is an Illusion you control, add 1 to Mysterio's Attack Number this turn. Figures moved by Master of Illusion will not take any leaving engagement attacks. SMOKE AND MIRRORS When Mysterio rolls defense dice against an opponent's attack, one shield will block all damage. You may immediately move Mysterio with Master of Illusion. ____________________________________________________________________ Last edited by Good Pig; August 27th, 2011 at 12:51 AM. |

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
I like it. Although, two things that I think could be cut is: the +1 attack on Master of Illusion (it is confusing to add to his attack on a defensive turn with Smoke and mirrors - just bump his normal attack to 4) / and [redacted] my personal choice would be to cut the Decoy power as that is too similar to Doombots).

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
How do [redacted] get an attack in the first place? And how can we justify getting rid of the Decoy power? [redacted]

Re: The Book of Mysterio - Design
I feel like Smoke and Mirrors already covers the theme of them being decoys completely ... I'm with Griff on here.
Sadly I realllllly like the theme of him adding one to his attack with Master of Illusion. But I agree with Griff's concern about it completely too. It's just a shame is all. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
