Plastics degradation...
Hello guys. I would like to know if any of you are experiencing some breaking tiles. I played 2 weeks ago and when I was storing my tiles, I break 2 big green. I was kind of **** off. Is it just my game or did you have this kind of situation ?

Re: Plastics degradation...
It depends on age and how they are stored. All my tiles came used and I've had very different results. Some see to be like new while other feel like they could shatter at any moment...and some have shattered. If they experience temperature swings or direct sunlight for extended periods had things happen.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: Plastics degradation...
Ive broken quite a few tiles now and mine are stored in plastic totes in a closet where direct sunlight does not go. But we have been playing with them for 10 years or so now.

Re: Plastics degradation...
My biggest problem has been with the solid color water tiles; they tend to break when you are removing them from the board while taking the game down. Also snow tiles have seen the most discoloration, some becoming what Frank Zappa used to call the dreaded Yellow Snow:

Re: Plastics degradation...
Keeping mine in the original boxes has kept them basically brand new. They get dropped, played with, and the like and I have never had anything break that a little super glue didn't fix with ease.

How long have you had yours? Some of mine date back to when they were first released.

Re: Plastics degradation...
My friend dropped a package with three 2-hex sand tiles today and they shattered.
Of course it is like 10 degrees in these parts. I mostly have problems with water tiles and anything connected to a road piece. |

Mine, too. We build a bunch of maps for every tournament, and it's gotten to the point where we lose about one tile every tourney.
