Cincinnati “General Draft” Tournament Sat. 5/10/14 Date: Saturday, May 10, 2014 Time: 10:30ish AM to 5ish PM 10:30-11:30 - Setup/Registration 11:30-12:20 - Round 1 12:30-1:20 - Round 2 1:30-2:20 - Round 3 2:20-2:40 - Longer break (food, RR, etc.) 2:40-3:30 - Round 4 3:40-4:30 - Round 5 4:30-5:00 - Prizes/ clean up Location: Sci-Fi City, Cincinnati (Northgate Mall by Macy's, Exit 33 off I-275) 9527 Colerain Ave Cincinnati, OH 45251 Store Phone: 513-245-9105 Concept: General Draft with Optional Weather Each player should bring a 700-750 point pool of figures that will be combined with his or her opponent’s pool and a small number of figures assigned to each board. Players will then draft 500 point armies from this larger pool for each match. The figures in the 700-750 point pool that each player brings must all come from one of the following groupings: A. Jandar B. Ullar C. Vydar D. Einar E. Aquilla and/ or Valkrill F. Utgar, not including Marro, Wulsinu, and Soulborg G. Utgar, only including Marro, Wulsinu, and Soulborg Extra figures assigned to each board: 1. Frossenmere 1SotM 1 TT: Dzu-Teh x3, White Wyrmling x3 2. Eggbeater 1BftU 1Marvel 1 RttFF : Black Wyrmling x3 3. Bad Moon Rising 2D&D 1FA : Deepwyrm Drow x3, Drow Chainfighter x3 4. Flash Fire - BoV map 1RotV 2RttFF : Dumutef Guard x3 5. Guardian 1RotV 1FotA : Earth Elemental x3 6. Cant see the jungle... - BoV Map 1RotV 2TJ : Quasatch Hunters x3, Red Wyrmling x3 7. If you cant take the heat... - BoV Map 1SotM 1VW 1TJ : Obsidian Guards X3, Fire Elemental x4 8. Healing Waters - SotM RttFF : Marro Drudge x3, Blue Wyrmling x3 9. Flooded Crypt 1BftU 1Marvel 1FotA : Water Elemental x3 10. Kaltengeist 1BftU 1TT 1RttFF : Air Elemental x3 *** If BOTH players agree, the following weather effects could be set at the beginning of each round, after order markers and initiative are set: 1-5: Sunny: Figures with the flying or stealth flying abilities gain +1 to movement and defense. 6-10 Strong Winds: No flying or stealth flying allowed, and figures with the the flying or stealth flying abilities suffer a -1 to movement and defense. 11-15 Mist/ Fog: All range attacks and abilities requiring line of sight are halved (rounded down) except against large or huge figures. 16-20 Flooding/ Mud: All tiles except road, water, and molten lava require two moves instead of one (like slippery ice/ heavy snow) for small or medium figures unless figure has unrestricted movement through water (Slither, Water Suits, Oceanstrider Amulet, Etc.) Also, these tiles are considered water or swamp water for all special abilities. If players forget about the weather conditions, the "you snooze you lose" rule will apply: the error may be corrected only before any additional actions of note are taken. If not, the forgotten condition will be ignored. Maps:

Entry fee/Prizes: No entry fee. If you provide a prize for the prize table, you can pick out one at the end. The top player will pick from the prize table first, etc. Prizes can be anything...Heroscape related, other games or even a gift certificate to somewhere. Sci-Fi City is a full-service game store, and they would probably appreciate your patronage since they are allowing us to use their space. Need Extra Figures? I have nearly everything, except the most rare units. Back in 2009 this was one of your tournament scenario
concepts, I thought it might be fun to revisit: Erratic weather is plaguing Valhalla today, but the battle rages on, weather or not (ha ha ha). At the beginning of each round, roll the d20 to determine weather conditions for that round: 1-5 No weather conditions in effect for this round 6-10 Strong Winds: No flying or stealth flying allowed 11-15 Mist/ Fog: All range attacks and abilities requiring line of sight are halved (rounded down) 16-20 Flooding/ Mud: All grass, sand, swamp, and swamp water tiles require two moves instead of one (like slippery ice/ heavy snow) unless figure has unrestricted movement through water (Slither, Water Suits, Oceanstrider Amulet, Etc.) Also, these tiles are considered water or swamp water for all special abilities. 555 points, partial card scoring, C3V and SoV WILL be allowed, but no Marvel. |

I am a maybe. Doing cut the cake this weekend, but no problem with you doing the same.
If doing a draft, an idea is have a set pool of units to draft from at each map consisting of either 1 or 2 generals (provided by you) and then combine those with a pool each person brings that mush be from the same general. So, at each game there is X00 points of one general brought by each player and another X00 provided at the map, which might be all the same or different generals depending on the matchup and map. You could also combine this with the weather conditions above rolled before the draft so would totally change who is the best units in that draft matchup.
