Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
Ah, Grodd, good call.
Does MODOK do that as well? I know he's a lot like Hammond. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
MODOK is more of a science experiment, whereas Hammond had an accident. MODOK (or Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing) was created by AIM, Hammond had some kind of accident which he blames Hal Jordan for.
Semi-Retired C3G Hero (and first Official Member of the C3G Target Audience!) The correct way to add C3G playtests to posts. My favorite day EVER on heroscapers. Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
Well I didn't mean they were exactly alike - just that they had clear similarities as characters.
A Diamond Form type thing is a necessity for Frost, IMO, Hahma. I'd like a Psionic Bolt type thing as well - maybe just a special attack she wouldn't need LOS on, like with Tul-Bak-Ra? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
That'd be really light on text too, which would be nice, and leave room for something more text heavy like a mind control power.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
There are 3 powers that I would like to see on this card, and here they are in order of most important to me:
1) Magnetic Throw 6/ just like Jean Grey only difference is that Mag's can choose 2 separate figures to throw per turn, and he must roll a 6 or higher. Throwing is a huge power in Scape, and I would like to test the upper levels of it on Mag's, but because of its "near game-breaking ability", I strongly think that it should have a chance of failing on a low D20 number like a 6 or 8. 2) Your Mental Helmet power thingy is fine as is IMO. Good job on that. 3) Electromagnetic Defense / Before placing Order Markers at the beginning of a round, you may place the Blue Electromagnetic Defense Marker on this card and it will remain on this card for the entire round. While the Marker is on this card you must add +5 to Magneto's Defense and you must subtract 3 from his Attack. Also, while the Marker is on this card, you may not use Magnetic Throw 6. This would capture that Magnetic Bubble thing that he uses for defense, and while it is up, his other abilities are brought down a tad. |

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
Isn't +5 a bit strong? I think that +3 would be better.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
Yes! He would be great defensively, but suck offensively, so there is a trade off.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
True, but what if someone was playing him in a game with a set number of rounds and used his defense thing to camp and win the game? It should be strong, but not overwhelming.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
I think I'm with Swamper that +3 might be plenty for that. Seems like something that might need to be sorted out in playtesting to a large degree if we went with that power. I really like having a defensive power on his card though, and don't want another D20 based defensive power in this set, so I think that'd be a really good way to go.
I'm also liking where you're at with the throw power. Throw just doesn't work for me as a special attack. It feels like you're trying to use the special attack mechanics in something that wasn't really meant to be an attack. There's a basis for throw already and established mechanics, so why not use them for such an iconic thrower as Magneto? I think he'll still be very different than Jean Grey, especially if he's able to throw twice in a turn. And, yeah, a low D20 roll as a barrier is probably a necessity to keep him in check as well. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Magneto C3G X-Men Master Set
I'm not sure we should use markers. I think they're a pain in the butt and it's possible we'll need markers already for Sentinels.
Also, if possible, I'd really like to have seperate mechanics for Jean Grey and Magneto. I'd hate to see these figures look even a little stale. I think I'm just worried about another Spider-Man / Venom. Does anyone have any other ideas? Maybe the throw ability is triggered differently, or something. |
