TEST 1
Map: Platforms 5 and 6
Units: Hawkman vs. Batman (200)
Hawkman wins on Turn 2 of Round 3 with 2 wounds. Hawkstrike was used once, early, to put 2 wounds on Batman. Batman couldn't hit a single Evasive Strike, and that doomed him.

TEST 2
Map: Platforms 5 and 6
Units: Hawkman vs. Captain America (220)
Captain America won on Turn 2 of Round 2 with 4 wounds. Without Undying Love or Nth Metal Mace coming into play, these two played really evenly and it came down to Cap getting initiative in the second round.

TEST 3
Map: Platforms 5 and 6
Units: Hawkman vs. Hawkgirl (225)
Hawkman's actually a pretty good counter to his lover - he won this one on Turn 2 of Round 2 with 2 wounds on his card. This one really came down to first strikes - Hawkman got the first one with Hawk Strike and his mobility prevented Hawkgirl from ever getting in a position where she could use Hawk Swoop. Still, Hawkgirl was hanging tough with Hawkman until two poor rolls in Round 2 doomed her. 225 is feeling just right to me so far.

TEST 4
Map: Platforms 5 and 6
Units: Hawkman vs. Iron Man (240)
Bigger attacks turned out to be better than more this time around, and Hawkman won on Turn 2 of Round 2 with 3 wounds on his card. There may be some argument for a point boost based on this one, but I'm not sure I'm feeling it yet. Iron Man's range really didn't come into play in this matchup, but is invaluable against other units (and a tool Hawkman just doesn't have).

TEST 5
Map: Platforms 5 and 6
Units: Hawkman vs. Solomon Grundy (290)
With no ability to Born on a Monday, Grundy wasn't worth anything near his normal points. Add in Nth Metal Mace's effects and Hawkman took out Grundy Turn 2 of Round 2 with only 1 wound. I figured Hawkman would be a great counter to Grundy so this one didn't surprise me. I just wanted to try him out against some Undead.

Units: Hawkman vs. Street Thugs x3 (225)

Spoiler Alert!

Street Thugs won on Turn 3 of Round 2 after killing two Street Thugs. The Street Thugs were able to get their concrete and asphalt bonus and easily overwhelmed Hawkman with superior numbers. Hawkman does pretty well against other heroes in his weight class, but he's got nothing against squads. This weakness, in my opinion, helps keep his cost down to 225 despite doing well in the heavy hitter tests.

Units: Hawkman and Hawkgirl (450) vs. Black Canary, Green Arrow, Robin Tim Drake (460)

Spoiler Alert!

Hawkman won on Round 5, Turn 1, with 2 wounds on his card. Had Green Arrow hit some better Skill Shot rolls this could have easily gone the other way. Green Arrow rolled for Skill Shot against Hawkman about 5 or 6 times and never subtracted defense. Given that height advantage was much easier for the hawks to obtain, that made the range advantage of the Vigilante team not enough. Hawkgirl charged in early and took out Robin, then put 3 wounds on Black Canary before Fists of Fury put her down. Hawkman took a couple of 10 range shots from Green Arrow, then flew in out of Green Arrow's line of sight and Hawk Struck Black Canary for her last wound. Then he came after Green Arrow, who got in several more shots but couldn't further wound Hawkman. When Hawkman caught up, double attacks of 6 (thanks to Hawkgirl's death) proved too much. This one felt plenty balanced and I could still see Hawkman at 225-235. He's fun to play, though, and I have no issues with the card. One more test to go!

Units: Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter (750) vs. Professor X, Wolverine, Angel, and Iceman (740)

Spoiler Alert!

Hawkgirl with 2 life and Martian Manhunter with 3 life survive for the win. Hawkgirl was a pretty nasty piece to play against Professor X, as her Swoop and Stealth Flying gave her ample chances to break past Guardian Angel and Psychic Defense X. Wolverine stayed far too land locked to make a difference in this game and a Hawk Strike was very devastating to him, putting on 5 wounds all at once. Iceman's long range pot shots and Angel's last desperation attacks finished Hawkman off, but not until after he put two wounds on Iceman and took out Wolverine all by himself (Wolverine only put the 3 wounds on Martian Manhunter). This one felt like the advantage was in the hands of the Hawks, but Wolverine didn't perform to his usual levels either thanks to taking a very nasty Hawk Strike before he'd reached his targets. I'm leaning towards 235 right now, but I don't think 225 is broken, so I think either would work still.
