CMD Set, Rogue War! Playtesting Thread

This is the official playtesting thread for our set Rogue War! For more info on this set, please see its discussion thread.

In this thread, we will playtest figures that have passed the development stge of our design. Anyone is welcome to playtest, as it widely contributes to our set and is very important.

To playtest, all you have to do is conduct some simple battles with the figure(or a proxy) against other figures(primarily heroes) of the same or near point value and fill out the form below. It is preferred that the battles be commensed on BoV or BoM maps and that the opposing figures be either Marvel or C3G, but it s not required. You can do as many battles as you wish, because the more feedback the more balanced the figure becomes. It is recommended that you commence 1 or 2 battle with the figure in 600+ point armies, as it shows how the figure would react in an actual game. Make sure that each battle be against different figures. Try making each battle unique, by battling against squads, classic HS figures, or multiple low point heroes. At least 3 playtests must be completed before a figure is ready for release.

After playtesting, please post in this thread in the following form:

1. (Name of figure) at (point value) points
2. (Name of figure) against (name of opposing figure[s]) at (opposing figure[s] point value) points
3. Who won the battle? State the winner here.
4. Describe the battle. How did the figure do? How did the abilities react?
5. (Repeat steps 2-4 for additional battles)
6. State whether the figure passed or failed the playtest (Pass means that the figure is fine how it is, and fail means that changes should be made)
7. Should the figure's Point Value be changed? If so, to what?
8. (repeat steps 2-7 if you are doing another battle)
9. Post any other comments you have about the playtest or the figure.

All figures are put in the same playtestng thread after passing the development thread. At least 3 playtests are required, 2 f which by CMD members. After wich, a 12-hour delay will be issued. When that is up, CMD members will be asked if the figure is ready for carding. On a vote of at least 3 yesses, the unit will be carded.

Infestation
After moving and before attacking, you may choose any or all figures within 4 clear sight spaces of Pied Piper. Roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 1, Pied Piper's turn immediately ends. If you roll a 2-14, roll 1 unblockable attack die against each chosen figure. If you roll a 15 or higher, roll 2 unblockable attack dice against each figure. If Pied Piper destroys a unique hero using Infestation, he may not attack this turn.

Sonic Melody Special Attack
Range 4. Attack 5. Choose a figure to attack. When Piped Piper attacks with his Sonic Blast Special Attack, subtract 1 die from his attack for each space between Piped Piper and the targeted figure. For each space beyond 3, Piped Piper's Sonic Blast Special Attack can affect one additional figure adjacent to the targeted figure. When Piped Piper attacks a destructible object with his Sonic Blast Special Attack, each skull rolled counts as one additional hit.

Mirror Image 11
If Mirror Master is attacked by an adjacent figure and at least 1 skull is rolled, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 1-10, roll defense dice normally. If you roll an 11 or higher, Mirror Master takes no damage and may immediately move up to 4 spaces.
Mirror Gun Special Attack
Range 6. Attack 3. If Mirror Master has no unrevealed Order Markers on his Army Card when he deals a wound with Mirror Gun Special Attack, you may remove all Unrevealed Order Markers from the affected figure's Army Card.
Deceptive Maneuver
Instead of taking a turn with Mirror Master, you may instead take a turn with any unique hero you control with an unrevealed X Order Marker on its Army Card.

Molecular Instability
Flash can move through all figures. Any figures he passes through during his movement must roll 1 unblockable attack die. On any turn Flash passes through figures, he may not attack or move over 10 spaces. A figure may only be affected by Molecular Instability once per turn.

Too Quick To Hit
When rolling defense dice against a normal attack, if The Flash rolls at least one shield, the most wounds The Flash may take for this attack is one. This power does not work against other figures with the Super Speed ability.

Super Speed
The Flash may speed over water and lava without stopping. When the Flash starts to speed, if he is engaged he will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

You may begin playtesting.

You've hit on the main obstacle! In every community effort that's been attempted, getting people to playtest is absolutely the most difficult part. That's why TNT died out, and why NM24 and the Star Wars project don't require it. The only reason it gets done in C3G as much as it does is because Hahma is a playtesting maniac! (plus IAmBatman and Griffin are slave-drivers when it comes to playtesting). Although we got some more maniacs joining in lately...

If I could make one suggestion to your playtesting rules, though, it would be to include tests against squads and classic HS figures, too. Squads completely change the dynamics, so they should be tested. Classic HS has many more lower-point heroes than Superheroes do, and some figures will have a significant difference in how they play against low-level, mid-level, and high-level heroes.

I guess I have the honor of the first playtest.

Weather Wizard @ 200 points
Battle 1 Weather Wizard vs. Batman(C3G) @ 200 points
Winner: Weather Wizard
Almost a fair fight. Weather Wizard took advantage of Lightning Strike by repeatedly moving over Batman each turn, causing a grand total of 2 wounds.
Battle 2 Weather Wizard and Swog Rider @ 25 points vs. Hawkgirl(C3G) @ 225 points
Winner: Hawkgirl
Heavy Winds failed. No chance for Energy Transfer. Lightning Strike advantage again caused 3 wounds.
Battle 3 Weather Wizard vs. Spartacus @ 200 points
Winner: Spartacus
No sweat for Spartacus, he quickly wiped Weather Wizard out.
Battle 4 Weather Wizard vs. Two-Face(C3G) @ 130 points and Axegrinders of Burning Forge @ 70 points
Winner: Weather Wizard
Easy win, Lightning Strike advantage caused 5 wounds.
Result: Fail
Change point value to 175
fix/restrict Lightning Strike so advantage cannot be taken.
No Other Comments.

Just 2 more playtests!

I'd like to think Griff and I playtest as much as anyone, Hahma's mania included.
But, sadly, as GreyOwl suggests, I think most of the people around here willing to consistently playtest are already wrapped up in the C3G project.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I don't think that yelling at people the importance of your mission is going to inspire many people to do what you say, believe me I have tried.
Instead, if you take the time to start playtesting on your own and keep at it, people may join in, and even if they don't, you will grow and become a better designer for it.

But stop yelling.

Do you have any full time members yet? I think everyone I've seen posting in your threads thus far is a casual observer/commenter, or someone who's said they're not going to be more than a part-time member?

I think Wulf is contributing nicely. Venom just siad "I barely get to scape". I'll go searching.


EDIT: Just did some "searching", denied twice but TaebleMaker has joined the team and agreed to playtest!
