But holycow, amazing!
You do know that you dont have to actually put the figures on the cards right?

If you are playing 4 squads of 10th Foot you only need one card and it wont hold 16 figures

Onacara...who also likes having fast access to his unit

Re: Introducing new playing-card size cards

I don't agree with their design; The layout of the powers and abilities looks O.K, but now, they look just like cards from other game, Like Pokemon, yugi-oh, and summuner wars. What makes the cards unique is their octadecagonal shape is what distinguish's them and makes them special. It kind of makes me feel that they are superior to other cards. But mostly, It just fit's in with the heroscape battlefield. If you use cards like Pokemon cards, your battlefield and card will look like they are from different games. Plus, due to your back graphic, there would be no side for basic game stats; even though I almost never play it, a 4 player basic game free for all can sometimes be pretty fun.

Ok so you dont like them because they arent the same shape?

At many tournaments (and in alot of peoples home games) there is limited space for cards, dice etc. The small compact cards come in very handy. Also if you store the cards in top load pages you can out them in a binder which makes it a heck of alot easier to not only locate the cards you need but it allows you to flip through the pages for army construction. Another added bonus is that instead of sleeving each individual card to protect it you can use 1 extra 9 pocket page to hold all the cards in your army in a compact 8.5"x11" area of the table and if you wanted to you can even write on the pages with dry or wet erase markers.

The big cards for the basic game when there isnt much written on them in the first place seems like a big waste of table space...besides no one plays the basic game.

Apparently there is more than "no one."

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide shot selection!

Re: Introducing new playing-card size cards

For any of you that have been waiting, there is a new ArtsCow coupon code that makes it $6.99 per deck (54 cards) including shipping. Check out this BGG thread: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/5357...ed-and-on-sale
Plus they claim to have improved their card quality (which was already pretty nice).

Hey grithog, it was nice to meet you in person at origins (I was teaching the little girl to play). Thanks again for making these cards available to the community!

Re: Introducing new playing-card size cards

grithog,

I've noticed an error in preparing your cards for printing.
Wave 4 erroneously has the Tagawa Samurai Archers card, not the Tagawa Samurai. (The Samurai Archers are also in the Wave 6 printout, where they should be--I didn't see the Tagawa Samurai card anywhere.)

These cards look great, though. Really looking forward to seeing the actual copies!

Thanks for finding that. I have corrected it tonight. Apparently I had never made the correct card, as I could not find it in my files.

While correcting that, I noticed when looking at the design page on ArtsCow that the default zoom is signifcantly more than it was when I ordered cards last year. Now it looks like it gives just a sliver of the colored border by default rather than the 2-3mm border I intended. I had designed the cards at precisely the right size to fit their template without adjusting zoom. Please let me know how yours turn out and if you adjusted zoom.

Thanks again,
Eric

Re: Introducing new playing-card size cards

Do you plan on adding Wave 12/D2 (and 13/D3, when it's fully revealed)?

Also, would you consider adding an album of cards to complete a "random draft deck," given the necessary text?

I need to figure out exactly how much of each type, and I'll get them to you...
