Re: Public Design Workshop
Welcome back, laughing_matter! Good to see you around.
Sadly, though, I think the others have a point here - you have had a noticeable tendency towards unreliability in the past, and, yes, you have often signed up for tests and not completed them, which is exceptionally bad form. However, I'd like to make a counter proposal. I'd be happy to give her the benefit of the doubt here - she does have some amazing ideas, and if she's willing to be more reliable and actually get some tests in, I'd love to see her designs start coming to fruition, beyond just this guy. If we strip this design away from her now, I'm concerned she may become disenfranchised and be even less likely to become productive in future. However, I, too, would not be happy to see a design like this languish in infinite limbo, being held hostage by someone who won't put the work in. Therefore, here would be my proposal - give her a month to get the points needed, possibly to the end of the year if we're feeling generous. That's only two test sheets assuming she doesn't squander any by signing up and not sending anything in - eminently doable. If she has the points by then, I say let her do it - if not, I reckon that whoever wishes to can step up. Hopefully this might be the kick up the arse she needs to be somewhat more reliable - a specific goal and a specific thing to avoid. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
Has L_M even expressed any interest in designing/participating with the group beyond the drop in "howdy do" post?
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I understand both sides, and I'd like to propose a compromise. If I can't get this going by January, then @Lazy Orang has my full permission to take my Constantine design and run with it. She's got more than enough points, she's a sidekick, and above all, I trust her ability to see it through to completion and preserve the core idea of my design. I've seen her come a long way, and I'm very impressed with her progress. I think she can do John Constantine Justice Sound good to everyone? life's short, why not make an impact on the world? make some peoples lives better, have a few good laughs, and then when it's all over go out with BANG! |

It took me less than 2 months from joining to get the 15 points I needed to start my first design, you can surely get the rest of the points you need in that time. If not, then I do have to agree with the ‘old guard’ that you don’t have much of an exclusive hold on what happens to the character anymore. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
I have zero familiarity with this character and loads of other plans for characters I do know - I'm not willing to use up my design slot (I can only run one at a time) designing someone like this as a favour when I could be getting on with other things, nor do I think it a good idea if I were willing to as, I reiterate, I don't bleeding well know him. If you want someone else to do him, Mr.Nobody and Yodaking are far better candidates as they have the interest, enthusiasm and familiarity to do the job. If you want to do it yourself, you could easily crank out two more tests this year if you put your mind to it - you could easily crank out two more for December!

Re: Public Design Workshop
That's fair. If I ghost again then it probably should just go to whoever wants it most. I wouldn't be around to argue anyway if that were to happen.

Re: Public Design Workshop
I'm a bit concerned that the idea for compromise is to wait 2 months to complete something that could easily be done in 2 weeks. If you're busy enough that you need 2 months to complete 2 tests, why not just let(I use this term loosely as nobody has ownership over any of these designs) someone who isn't that busy run the design sooner rather than later?
I should reiterate, it's not just a matter of starting the design, sticking with and seeing the design through to the end is a factor here, and an expectation. If there is any doubt in one's ability to do that, keeping one's track record and history in mind, why even go through all this rigmarole for what could easily be LD'd by someone who's here consistently and has the time and track record to see it through? You're welcome to stop in as much as you like and give thoughts and feedback like everyone else, but I don't understand why we're complicating this. |
