Yeah powers like this generally just destroy a squad figure, that’s the route I think we should take. I’m always good with abilities that murder common squads.

This is less messy then figure out new mechanics, and there’s precedence.

It’s a tricky line because we already have Crimson Bands, which is a pretty “signature” spell for a specific character. So it’s hard to argue that all spells should be generic when that one already exists.

I doubt this goes over but I suggest a marker that goes on the figure's base. The Magic version of Heroscape did this with wound markers as their squad figures could have more than 1 Life.

Start the game with 6 grey Stone Markers on this card. Instead of taking a turn, roll the 20-sided die once for each figure within 3 clear sight spaces of this figure. If you roll 11 or higher, place a Stone Marker on that figure's base. A figure with a Stone Marker on its base cannot move, roll for attacks or leaving engagement attacks, or use any special powers on its Army Card, and adds 1 additional die to its defense. At the end of each round, remove all Stone Markers placed by this spell from the game. Figures with the Blind Warrior special power are not affected by Petrify.

I have to imagine markers on bases will get as much resistance as it has in the past.

Yeah pretty sure that was a no-go in the past. Would we be okay to allow multi-life squads too?

I don’t hate the idea I just though that was an automatic no from the past.

It's pretty good, but had an even shorter lifespan. With just a few more expansions it could have been amazing (Outside of them removing Order Markers, one of the best parts of HS)
