best melee squad
just another poll (no advertising on this one, promise!) Getting the opinions on the best melee squad and why. Please tell why you voted for who you did.

T-samurai
a bit expensive but out of that list they win hands down, counter strike is a deadly melee ability add bloodlust and they are just too cool.

I voted the Tagawa Samurai because of their counter strike w/5 defense dice as well as thier initial 3 attack which can be increased as they kill to a max. of 6 attack, the only drawback IMO is their cost, but still are the best melee on your poll.

I think the Anubian Wolves are the best Melee squad, but since their not on there, I'll go with the Hounds. Those guys continue to cause mayhem with their plague. Standard 3 attack and a 5 defense gives them some staying power also.

If it is about match ups, Tagawa beats all. If it's effectiveness in your army, I pick the ninjas. Counterstrike is great but Disapearing Ninja works against range and Disengage and Ghost Walk make NONW the perfect assassins.

Problem with a poll like this is that the polls are limited to 10 entries. I do believe there are more than 10 "melee" squads/units in HS.
another problem is that with so many options, the results will tend to be watered down and affected by personal opinion. If there were one best squad, then there would be no need for any others. It's all a matter of preference combined with situational factors.

I believe that this poll in particular is trying to determine which melee squad is best in a melee match against one another, not including how they fare against range attacks.

I voted death reavers for their utility. Glyph grabbing, flag capturing, melee screen, ranged tie-down...
Ranged units rule Heroscape, so the melee unit that best compliments them is the best melee unit.

the ninjas are fast enough to avoid alot of ranged fire.
Anyone vote minions or sentinels? left them out.

Minions are pretty good. With Def of 6 and Att of 2 (double skulls) they stand a good chance of doing some serious damage. Their only drawback (besides high price but they are worth it) is their slow Move of 4. The Imperium with Move of 5 and double attacks (and stealth flying) are brutal if they can survive getting in contact with the enemy. Sentinels are cool but it seems I roll more blanks defending with them than any other unit (besides the Samurai.)
