TV: What Are You Watching?

My daughters and I just finished watching Monday's season finale of The Gifted, that we had recorded. Man this is a great show.

My favorite super hero show though Agents of Shield is a close second but has the advantage of being established already.

What The Gifted pulled off in the first season is amazing. The future looks ... uncertain.

Yeah, The Gifted has done so much in one season, I'm very impressed.

Is that the one with the scene at the school gymnasium in the first episode? I watched a few episodes of that and liked it. Not sure why I stopped.

Have I already mentioned Peaky Blinders? I recently started Season 3. It's a crime drama set in early 20th century Birmingham, England. One of the best shows on TV, as far as I'm concerned. It's gritty and well-paced. The production is amazing, too, from the sets to the music, which is dominated by musicians like Nick Cave and Jack White.

Yes, it's on Netflix. Not originally a Netflix show, though I believe they have the reins now. Similar to their arrangement with Black Mirror, which I like well enough in small doses.

I'm also still watching Longmire, now into Season 4, which has an advantage over other shows: it's slow and brainless enough that I can practice the guitar or ukulele while I watch and I don't miss anything. Though I'm so annoyed at the scenes involving lawyers or anything legal - it's just too far beyond my ability to suspend disbelief - that I end up skipping some of them, which does distract from the quality of my music practice.

I too endorse both The Gifted and Peaky Blinders. Two different types of shows but both have been really good so far.

HA...my wife and I just finished the last 2 episodes...5 in 3 days. I just logged in to post about it.

BRAVO...I thought it was excellent. I think I may actually like it better than Jessica Jones. I thought it was great.

Years ago I watched The Dresden Files and liked it. It was before I had read any of the books. Now that I'm about halfway through Dead Beat I decided to go back and give it another try. I've rewatched the first two episodes now, and it's alright. I think more recent TV has set a high bar, and it doesn't hold its own as well today. I still like the setting and characters, but the show is just a little lacking. I think the adaptation was a little weak now that I'm familiar with the source material, but it was decent for the budget they had to work with. I would love to see something like a Netflix 8-13 episode adaptation of one of the books, rather than the monster of the week version we got the first time around.

Just finished watching tonight's Agents of Shield and it blew me away.

Spoiler Alert!

Can't help but look at the big picture after an episode like that and if it ends where it appears to be going, then this season story arc kind of reminds me of a Cable story. Mutant/Inhuman from the future returns to the past to save the world form the crappy future he was born into. Flint looks to be the key to preventing the world from fracturing, which clearly isn't something Quake did but rather tried to prevent and failed. Her inhuman powers weren't the right ones for the job, the kid Flint has the right power set but won't be born for 30+ years. So they bring him into the past so he can save the world. He then stays in the past as a regular member of the team. The future he was born into no longer exist.
