ya, ja, and yep.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Yondu (MCU)

Version tested:
Spoiler Alert!

Army Test
Map: Conflict Chernobyl
Units: Yondu, Corsair, Krovus Rook'Shir, Human Torch 150, Orion Arm Ravagers x2 VS Luke Cage, Daredevil 200, Spiderman 250, Ronin, Songbird
Spoiler Alert!

___________________________________________________________

Army Test
Map: Country Road
Units: Ch'od, Corsair, Captain America 240, Yondu, Ravagers x2 VS Masahiro Arashi, Electra, Gamora 310, Boomerang, Hand Ninjas x3
Spoiler Alert!

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Like all d20 swingy units, points can be tough to decide. In Game 1 Yondu and his power set did some damage but was hardly dominate. In game 2 almost everything went right and the d20 was rolling favorably and a great set up. For now I'd say stay with 190 points but I could see a bump in points possible.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Yondu and his Yaka Arrow Frenzy give the Pirates some much needed help. Pirate Code allows his team to recruit a non-Super Strength hero and turn him into a pirate. It's bigger feature is that it allows you to take a turn with a hero or squad if he does a wound. This gives the Orion Arm Ravagers some love and a reason to put them in your pirate builds. Pirate Code also has a cost of moving an order marker off Yondu if he doesn't inflict damage, in most pirate builds moving an x-marker isn't a big deal though, so he's going to see that a lot which can make order marker placement a little predicable. In game 1 it didn't directly come into play, but it did make me think about order marker placement. Yaka Arrow control is a nod to the movies but didn't come into play, and rarely will. If space on the card is an issue I could see this power getting dropped. Yaka Arrow Frenzy is the real star of the design. I think the limits on it to once a round and one attack per figure keep it in check. It can be very potent but also puts a huge bullseye on Yondu's back and with only a range of 4 it puts him in the thick of the action. Game two is tough game to judge, it was the perfect set-up for him being placed on the bridge with 2 hard to kill blockers in front and going against a team with ranges or 3 and 4. I'm happy with where the design is and look forward to seeing what others do with him.

Re: The Book of Yondu - Vote for Playtesting

Question (and apologies if this has been answered already) - what happens if Yondu fails to inflict a wound with his attack, but his chosen Hero is dead? (Or mind controlled, or what have you.) Does he still have to move the OM?

Cool. I might suggest this change, but I'm not really the wording guy so take it with a grain of salt.

PIRATE CODE
At the start of the game, you may choose a Unique Hero you control without the Super Strength special power. While you control the chosen Hero, that figure has the class of Pirate instead of what is listed on its card, and if Yondu attacks and fails to inflict a wound during his turn, you must move an Order Marker from this card to the chosen figure's Army card. After revealing an Order Marker on this card and taking a turn with Yondu, If he inflicted one or more wounds this turn, you may take an immediate turn with a Unique Pirate Hero or Common Pirate squad you control and you may not take any additional turns with figures you control.

If Yondu has to move an Order Marker with Pirate Code, can he move an already revealed marker?

Re: The Book of Yondu - Vote for Playtesting

It doesn't say anything about revealed or unrevealed, so you'd need to specify that he only moves unrevealed OMs if that is the intent.

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Yondu

Army Test 1
Map: Castle Dracula (Custom Map)
Units: Team 1 (800): Yondu (190), Nebula (240), Crossbones (160), Orion Arm Ravagers x2 (210)
Team 2 (800): Commander Rogers (260), Winter Soldier II (240), Diamondback (160), Falcon (140)

Pre-game thoughts: Nebula/Yondu is some fun interplay, where you’re getting a second turn even if Yondu doesn’t land his wound.

Summary of the game:
Spoiler Alert!

Special power usages:
Normal attack: 3 wounds inflicted (3 on Diamondback)
Pirate Code: Crossbones chosen, 1 OMs moved, 5 extra turns granted
Yaka Arrow Frenzy: 8 wounds inflicted (3 on Winter Soldier, 2 on Commander Rogers, 1 on Diamondback, 2 on Falcon)

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Crossbones (3/4 wounds), 1 Orion Arm Ravager

Post-game thoughts: My first thought is that the Yondu/Nebula/Ravagers combo feels incredibly effective, since basically no matter what you do you’re always tossing out a ton of attacks. They just struggled against Rogers and his super defense, but it’s cool the Ravagers are really starting to feel like their own little faction.
___________________________________________________________

Army Test 2
Map: Castle Dracula (Custom Map)
Units: Team 1 (1,200): Yondu (190), Corsair (180), Ch’od (215), Hebzibah (140), Korvus (270), Scorpion (205)
Team 2 (1,200): Black Swan (320), Proxima Midnight (350), Gamora (300), Aquaman (230)

Pre-game thoughts: Yondu, Corsair, Ch’od, and Korvus are going to Drop pretty close to the enemy SZ and try to ambush them early.

Summary of the game:
Spoiler Alert!

Special power usages:
Normal attack: 0 wounds inflicted
Pirate Code: Scorpion chosen, 1 OMs moves, 5 extra turns granted
Yaka Arrow Frenzy: 0 wounds inflicted

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Black Swan (3/5 wounds), Gamora (2/6 wounds)
Post-game thoughts: Yondu basically did nothing here, failing a Yaka Arrow Frenzy then dying pretty quickly, but the potential threat of his auto-wounds forced the enemy to go out of their way to attack him first, losing a lot of their positioning and costing them Aquaman, so he did have a decent effect on gameplay.
___________________________________________________________

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Feels pretty balanced at 190. I think the Ravagers are his stronger army by far, which is cool thematically. Yaka Arrow Frenzy is his big draw - it’s very swingy but has extremely high-end potential.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Feels fun! The un-mirrored triggers on Pirate Code had me constantly going back and re-reading the power, which was a bit of a pain, but I like how the combination of Pirate Code and Yaka Arrow Control made him actually play like a ruthless pirate - multiple times in game 1 I went after a weaker target cause I wanted to score that wound.
Neat!

Re: The Book of Yondu - Vote for Playtesting

Great tests @MrNobody thank you! I always forget about Nebula, she is a good fit here.

I agree with you, about Yondu giving the Pirates and Orion Arm Ravagers a little more pop. That is a good thing in my opinion. His high offensive potential certainly puts a bullseye on him.
