Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
I would like to see it as a common hero. A swarm master hero could act like Kurrok.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
I disagree. I don't think a common hero would give the swarm feeling that the current squad does. Normally a common hero would cost 25-45 points. that means you would take maybe four in an army. Whereas with a squad like this you would take two- three squads filling the board up with 6-9 Rat Swarms. That would be a lot more thematic.
For a Kurrock style figure to work with the Rat Swarm, I would rather see something that summoned them as a unique squad of three Rat Swarms that could be brought back after being killed. Something like the Marro clone ability. However, I like the common squad right now a lot better. |

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
I've been toying with common hero and destructible object concepts for the rat swarm minis (and there's another set of those minis with the castle ravenloft game). Both would involve some sort of summoner/controller figure.
At any rate, further comments should probably go on Killo's thread; this thread is not the place for tweaking his card. |

9 SA's per turn? Clearly broken. This designer's out of his mind.

I wish all those designers success. I'm not picking over those customs, though, the way I'm picking over ours.

Fair 'nuff. I've brought the corrections up with my Art Director (you rock, Lamaclown! ).

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Those designs are an interesting balancing act for the hobby. They keep it vibrant and on people's tabletops, but I am concerned that some of them may be broken and therefore un-fun.
On balance, as I said, I wish those designers the best. Early on in this project when I was looking at customs made with one particular mini - the Mage Knight Iron Hill Giant, not really "mini" at all - I came across a post on this board by Tom Vasel hinting he'd bought just such a custom from eBay. So there is room for them, I guess. |

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
I don't remember whether Zog was the one in question. Whose creation is he? Does anyone with the mini have any thoughts on how to base it properly? It's a fairly top heavy sculpt...

Just on a large peanut works fine. He won't topple over unless pushed. Same goes for the Mage Knight Doom Blade Orc Cyclops.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Zog is mine (see my non-D&D custom thread), but I'm fairly sure he's not the one you were referring to, since I made him after the early stages of this project.
I have mine nicely based on a "dragon" peanut. The overhang is fairly minimal. I'll see if I have a picture around. ETA: I made a pic:
Spoiler Alert!

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Ok, that wasn't it. That was an ancient thread, in which Tom Vasel was the OP. Interesting custom, dok, I'd overlooked it before.
