Spoiler Alert!

The Magicians had an easier time with Raven than most armies, and Zatanna had some good tricks up her sleeve, but they couldn't keep up with Nightwing's big turns.

Orko served as the 'guy who gets OM3 just in case the figure I actually want to activate goes down'. He did some damage with Mystic Flames on one occasion, and soaked up a couple attacks when Zatanna used her Trap Door to drop him right into engagement with some Titans.

Nothing stellar from Orko, but he was a neat filler option for a magic army. The d20 was kinder to him on offense than on defense.

Unit Summary:

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): 0 wounds to Nightwing in 1 attack
• Hovering: not used
• Magical Mishaps: rolled 2 times, prevented 0 castings and 0 attacks. Successfully cast Mystic Flames to put 2 wounds on Starfire and 1 wound on Raven.
• Damage Taken/Disappearing Act: rolled for DA 3 times, 1 success. 3 wounds in 4 attacks from Starfire (1 evaded, 1 whiffed by Starfire) (destroyed)

Tried to use Orko as a Mind Exchange trap and back-up spell-caster, but he didn't get any chances to cast spells and then get one-shotted the first time he was attacked.

Enchantress and Kitana did a number on the Wrecking Crew together, though, helped along when the Wrecking Crew decided to whiff most of their attack rolls; took em way longer to destroy Kitana than it should have. The Wreckers eventually did take out Kitana and Orko, but couldn't put a real dent in Amora. She didn't even end up needing most of her spells, because Kitana did so well.

• Hovering: avoided rolling for lava field damage one time
• Magical Mishaps: not used
• Damage Taken/Disappearing Act: Whiffed his only Disappearing Act roll and got OHKOed by Bulldozer

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Orko seems like an okay filler unit at 80. He's not someone I would lean on in any army, but I think he's a good throw-in for magic-based armies. Despite it not quite working out here, I'd absolutely throw him in with OG Enchantress again.

OK, thanks! I'm liking him at 80 points. I know LO was pushing for 70, but something worthwhile about Magical Defense figures is that the spellbook will just keep growing and there's also the Tome of Ancient Secrets. A figure with Orko's ability to avoid wounds getting that Tome? *shudder*

There's the special attack out, at least.

He's 1-2 at 80 points and none of the margins of victory look out of bounds.

I propose we move Orko to Final Editing at 80 points!

No, there isn't. Orko does not count as having Magical Defence - he may cast spells as though he had it and counts as having it while casting a spell (so, for example, an attack spell from him could penetrate Raven's defences and inflict multiple wounds), but he does not count as having MD for any purposes apart from spellcasting (neither do Kristoff or Constantine, as a matter of fact). He could not use the Tome of Ancient Secrets.


Potential for the spellbook to grow is a good point, though. As I said, I don't actually have an issue with 80, I was mostly just suggesting 70 as a nod to the fact that he has a fairly crippling weakness that he's fairly likely to encounter (namely SAs of any form).

Yea at 70-80. He's a frail enough character that the difference will be minimal.

Sounds like a solid middle-ground, and being a spellcaster means an odd point total won't hurt his draftability.

Yea at 70-80, 75 doesn't sound bad too me at all but I know Bat's hasn't jumped into the spell stuff yet so if he wants to keep it easy to draft him with He-Man and friends without dealing with spells I understand.
