Since Wildcat is helping you re-roll blanks, I would just base the 3 effects on the number of shields rolled. Then if the re-roll results in a skull, you are happy, and if it results in a shield you are happy.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, if you rolled exactly:
- 3 shields, after attacking, attack one additional time.
- 2 shields, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled.
- 1 shield, before defense dice are rolled, switch Black Canary and the defending figure. They will not take leaving engagement attacks.

So rolling 3 shields, and thus not many skulls, gives you a re-do more or less. 2 shields, suddenly turns a weak attack into a strong one. And the most often outcome of 1 shield results in the most chaotic result of a messy close combat battle, sometimes it helps her and takes away her opponents high ground def. bonus, other times it hurts her and gives her opponent a HG bonus to defense. Seems kind of rookie like to me, win some lose some. Wildcat's presence is most often a positive one.

I could live with that, but honestly, I'd probably just make it trigger on skulls? 1 skull, 2 skulls, 3 skulls, and nothing on 0 or 4 skulls. Essentially the same likelihood on all of them, but skulls = good makes a lot more sense to me than shields = good. And then that's essentially what I had a few days ago, just with the powers shuffled around some, but no one seemed jazzed about.

I like shields better. Feels like her ability to exert control over a number of combat situations and find positive results even when the blows aren’t landing.

Yeah, I like how it makes her more consistently doing something interesting when attacking, even when the punches aren't landing. I also like how it's somewhat similar to what Black Canary I does but you are looking for a different symbol.

See, you guys seem to be interpreting "shields" as "no skulls," but I don't read it that way. No skulls is no skulls, shields is something else entirely that doesn't really have a resonant theme for me in this case. No skulls is just... not rolling many skulls.

But hey, we seem to be coalescing, either way, so let me just poll it out:

OPTION A - CURRENT VERSION
When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, if no blanks were rolled, before defense dice are rolled you may choose one of the following:
- switch Black Canary and the defending figure; or
- add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled; or
- after attacking, attack one additional time.
Figures moved with Mixed Martial Arts will not take leaving engagement attacks.

OPTION B - SKULLS VERSION
When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, if you rolled exactly:
- 1 skull, after attacking, attack one additional time.
- 2 skulls, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled.
- 3 skulls, before defense dice are rolled, switch Black Canary and the defending figure. They will not take leaving engagement attacks.

When I think about the design of Knockback rules and the general spirit of the dice rolls inspired there, C feels tremendously off theme for Dinah. A or B for me.
