My latest dragon sculpture

For the second year I have entered an annual art show here in Tampa. Unfortunately I didn't have time to do more. Fortunately it sold on opening night. These are pics from my shop. I shall post more of it in the gallery.

Dimensions of the frame are about 18 x 12 inches. The head projects out about 20 + inches. It weighs about 25 to 30 pounds.

I got 450.00 for the piece. Several people said I should have priced it higher. However in the last week I made a grand. Not bad for a "starving artist". It is the first in a series of dragons I plan on making.

Thanks. All mild steel. What you're seeing is rust. After it was fabricated I did some polishing then used an acetylene torch to blue the metal. Better pics are coming.

Cool dragon sculpt! He looks like Mimring's dehorned brother. How many hours have you spent on that metalic monster?

Honestly I didn't keep track of hours ,but maybe 50 or more. Who knows? A lot of it was figuring out the engineering. And a lot more was spent at the hand shear cutting scales.

Gallery Pics

Here's the dragon at the gallery. The standard in the back was my homage to Utgar. Those are equine bones from a skeleton we dug out of a friends backyard. Enjoy.
