Advancing Current Figures (Input Welcomed)

I have a project that I would use some input on. I'm looking at a list of 105 armies that might be eligible for upgrading due to the fact they've been around the block and might've picked up some new gadgets since they've been battling.

The idea here is that I'm looking at pre-wave7 figures that could've been exposed to some tech (ala Sgt Drake,) and thereby get some new abilities and a repaint.

I could use some ideas on logical limitations on this. For example, would Utgar equip a squad of throw away gruts with tech? unlikely. Would Feylund creatures want to use tech at all? Are some figures more likely than others to pick up battlefield loot to enhance their battle prowess?

The first step for me here is to ID the figures most likely to enhance, rank them, then move on to discussion on what kind of enhancements they'd get and what that does to their cost.

I have been putting a DW9k Aquilla version on the backburner as a project for a while now, time to put it to use. And I'm assuming you have seen my version of Agent Carr.

Since the Kyrie are native to Vallaha and have been training and fighting in the same manner for thousands of years I think its unlikely that they would pick up anything new. The Einar Imperium will probably always use their swords. I think Syvarris is a good place to start. We all know of his famous arogance, and I think having a tricked out weapon would suit him and his personality very well.

Flameslayer, I haven't seen your Carr, but I'll make a search for it. He seems like a case for characters that have picked up some abilities after joining the conflict.

Chardar, I get your point about the Kyrie, but what about Atlaga and the Protectors. Those range weapons look like tech to moi.

Nope. Actually those crossbows are called arbalests which are just made of steel not wood. That's it. Not even tech.

I don't speak for everyone, only myself and I don't intend to re-invent the wheel. I'm just thinking of creative outlets for all these unique duplicates that I have.

In a way it advances the story.

That's cool if you are not interested in what I'm doing, I'm just seeking input from those that might be interested.

The list you provided in you OP list every unit Commons, squads etc...not just the Uniques

The way I see this is more like making V2s (like Drake and Raelin) for the units that would have changed in Valhalla. Agent Carr changed when he first entered by getting his gifts from Vydar. However with more experience he might now have an extra defense die, Phantom walk instead of disegage and Ghost walk, and a new ability.

Is that the train of thought here?

Thank you Envy, that's exactly what I'm getting at. You put it well, creating a series of V.2's for some of the elder stalwarts of HS.

Essentially, I thought that most enhancements would come from acquiring of new equipment, which is why the beginning of the list rules out a lot of figures that already use tech. But you're right that changes could come from experience.

The thought of Guilty McCreech getting his mitts on a couple of ray blasters appealed to me and started the ball rolling in my mind.

I agree, those are awesomely powerful crossbows. It's no wonder why the middle ages used them in the later years.


Those arbalests are also much more powerful and focused than ordinary crossbows Delph. However well designed crossbows often have a slightly longer range than most arbalests so you could give the protectors a longer range rather than more attack.
