Obsolete NEWS: No Prize Support For NHSD (not true anymore)

I had planned the event before mention of prize support and was doing everything out of pocket anyways. it would have been nice to get some extra prizes in. I guess i will just use what i won at gencon.

I probably wasn't going to place well enough to get prizes anyway! Take THAT, Wizards! Ha!

But thanks for everything you've done guys. We'll continue to support the game, and play like we always do - for fun and the love of the game.

Seriously, for those of us that have been long time gamers...(ran Alpha & Beta Magic tourneys, Warzone Ed 1 demo person, VOR)...etc...games die, games are reborn.

I noticed they completely killed the Battleball site too.

Warzone has resurfaced, VOR's Growlers are now "Trolls" in Warmachine and Heroscape will continue if not officially, then in the community we've created. The entire FASA and Avalon Hill lines died, and slowly many of them are coming back to life (perhaps not as great as we had hoped--but they DO exist!)

Hopefully, it will see a revival or another home with another company.

Go to BGG and you'll see what I mean. There are incredibly popular games that abruptly disappear from production. Our BGG community is what keeps them alive (and spreading the gaming virus!)

To me Heroscape is about the community.

Thanks to those who helped secure the Skahens. This isn't terribly surprising. I'm less disappointed by the lack of prizes than by what it says about WotC.

Wow, this is kind of a blow, but I am still hyped for the tourney. I was hoping to became up some wave 8.5 stuff from the prize table but guess I can just get it tonight instead. The WOTC prizes would have been nice but oh well.

I do agree with you on this statement but I gotta tell ya, this being ignored crap is getting kind of old. It is not the fact that there are not prizes for NHSD, it is the overall picture that is painted that bothers me. No GenCon, no NHSD, even wave 8....while I know we gave WOTC a big thumbs for this in all actuality all they did was push the button to make it go. Everything had already been developed before the takeover, and they almost cancelled that and were going to paint some glaciers brown. I have been a cheerleader for a while on this stuff and trying to paint a pretty picture but after continued neglect it does get a bit worn out.

It really is time for WOTC to ante up, we have been doin gour part, maintaining the site, donating money and prizes, holding tourneys, preaching the game, giving feedback...and yet we are still the bastage children of WOTC.....I still hope they turn it around but I gotta tell you it is starting to get a bit frustrating.

Good thing NHSD isn't about WOTC I guess.......

All this does in my eyes is give us an opportunity, as a community, to show WotC that we're in this for the game, not the freebies. Perhaps they'll notice the rabid (almost cultlike) following of the game and see that it is indeed a good product line to keep alive.

Thanks for trying Truth, TheGuru, Grungebob and the rest - I genuinely appreciate the exceptional work you guys do for all of us, ON YOUR DIME, and thank you deeply for continuing to carry the torch that WotC may be allowing to dim on their watch.

"NHSD isn't all about the prizes" <- True, and thanks for the updates.

Our last tournament did a great service for people in medical need, our NHSD tournament should do a great service for families in need this fall/holiday season.

But as others have said -- It will not deter us from enjoying the Day! Thanks GB for working so hard to get this going. Hopefully the increase in participation will eventually catch the attention of the the powers that be and your hard work will pay off.
