Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Breathing)
I like this take and would be comfortable seeing how it plays out in testing. If defense needs to be dropped to 3 later fine but I'd like to at least see how it works as is first.
lots of things can be adjusted here later without changing the basics. blanks as shields, etc. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Breathing)
I would like it with one small tweak:
CLAY CONSTRUCTION If Clayface would receive only two or fewer wounds from an attack, ignore one of those wounds and you may immediately use his Claymation special power. So Claymation still triggers just as often, but if you'd put two wounds on him you at least feel like you're making progress. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

In that case, I’d just go with unstoppable resilience + the Claymation trigger if no wounds received to save on unnecessary complexity.

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Breathing)
Debut Act is definitely awesome. He feels more towards the resilience thing than Unstoppable Resilience personally, but that's just my feel of the aesthetic. There's a sweet spot somewhere between the two balance wise, but the mechanic of the interaction with Claymation is a great feel and direction that I do overall support.

I’d be good with that.

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Breathing)
This is a cool design. Forcing an opponent to roll just for synergy when the mechanics here don't really need it definitely feels a bit arbitrary especially since it seems like it's Clayface going all Doc Ock tentacles on them rather then them reacting to something, but not something I would fight over.
Debut act is real neat. If you want to have the illusion that he's portraying that figure on the battlefield, you could transfer wounds from that card to Clayface's card. That would basically make Clayface draftable life for other Injustice figures to some degree based on whatever mechanics we want, so it might not be that palatable. But yeah, I dig it overall. |

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Breathing)
It's not arbitrary, and it doesn't have to be perceived as "just for synergy". These are antagonists, forcing your opponent to dodge or be punished is antagonistic, and puts your opponent in a state of peril. Escape or die. I roll the 20-sided die to wound you has been done hundreds of times, isn't going anywhere, and isn't harmed by doing it a different way for a change.
They paint different pictures, however minor, where one sees a test of accuracy/prowess by the attacker, and the other sees a test of dexterity/prowess by the defender. For big scary antagonist villain monster going up against Batman, I'd rather see the test come from Batman than Clayface. Which is exactly why I don't perceive it as "arbitrary" or "just for synergy". That's a bit insulting. I have updated the SP. I propose a vote to move to Initial Playtesting. |

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Vote 4 Initials
TBF, I think we're all so used to seeing the roll come from the 'attacker' that it feels a bit strange, but your explanation makes it feel perfect to me.

I’m not t trying to insult, it just feels a bit weird, that’s all.

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Vote 4 Initials
It’s an interesting aesthetic. I like how it should be easier to translate into a potential AI card down the road.
Yea. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Clayface (Basil Karlo) (II) (Vote 4 Initials
Yea I like the most recent changes. I agree that the d20 opponent thing is an oddity, but it’s a neat feature for the IL designs so they work best with Lex, and I like the theme explanation.
