As for the wording, I think I was using Joker(Toxin) as the precedent, but not really sure what's best.

I think just saying "would be" vs "is" would be sufficient but Bats', while longer, would also be sufficient. Though, I think combining the two concepts might be best.

For visual, here is my suggestion:

RE-ANIMATOR
Once per turn, when a Unique Hero without the Inorganic or Reanimated keyword within 4 clear spaces iswould be defeated, you may instead place Dr. West adjacent to that figure. Revive that figure at up to 2 Life. For the rest of the game, it gains the Reanimated and Undead keywords, the Class of Tormentor, Personality of Savage, and any player may take control of it at the start of their turn.

I’m not sure that works with the latter part of the ability - if you don’t defeat the figure, you can’t revive them.

Could you just add “before removing that figure from the battlefield” to the OP wording?
