Yes actually I do mean rust or a mix of rust some other stuff... but mostly rust. It is not technically a glaze because it doesn't contain the necessary silica and glass-like components of a glaze. You mix the oxide with water and apply it to the piece like a watercolor paint and it soaks into and sticks to the bisque-ware (clay that has gone through the first of two firings) It acts like a stain to the clay changing its color during the firing from a standard bedrock-gray to an amazing mix of blues and reds and blacks.

Those veins are awesome! They really remind me of those nasty veins that are all over the place in war of the worlds. Very good job! +rep

Normally I find dice towers completely uninteresting, but that's a beautiful piece.

Actually I rolled decently well. I have never been able to roll one die at all but I actually capitalized on some lava rolls and such.
