Map storage and travel solutions?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know of some good plastic bins for storing setup maps for travel or just quick setup? I am trying to find some so I have have 3-4 maps I can easily break out. However it seems very difficult to find anything over 19 in wide and most maps seem to be somewhere between 20-30in.

Thanks!

Re: Map storage and travel solutions?

When I set maps up for tournaments, I usually have them on wooden boards. If you have the room in your home, you could try something similar. I haven’t had much success in trying to keep boards stored in plastic totes or whatnot, however

Re: Map storage and travel solutions?

The easiest thing to do is to have some school-age children around your house. They will sometimes have assignments that call on them to use these things:

You can build most tournament maps right on the back of the middle section. Voila! Not only that, but - once you've removed the trees & whatnot - you can then build a second map and stack it on top. That's what we do for tournaments, and I believe in a pinch we've stacked up to 4 that way. Though if it's a heavy load then I use a piece of plywood I cut into that shape to hold the bottom map.

Re: Map storage and travel solutions?

I’m not sure having school-age children is particularly easy DS. Don’t they generally come in the infant models first?

Re: Map storage and travel solutions?

Well, I confess that there are some drawbacks to having school-aged children. For one thing, you have to train them to pee in the toilet, instead of in their clothing. For another, sometimes you have to send them to their rooms when they insist on drawing on the wallpaper with magic markers.

But it's all worth it for their precious, precious tri-folds.
