Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
Yeah, this would be my concern. Plus, at least from what I've read of her, tile placement doesn't really capture how she uses her powers. More fireballs and water blasts and so forth.

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
You already have movement in the wind power but I was originally thinking some sort of Knockback SA with the water power with a bonus vs Lava Resistant figures. Sort of a swiss army knife approach with her two SA.
And then the wind power could negate flying for figures around her similar to the Glyph from classic. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Flying negation would be very cool!
Very cool suggestions there japes. A cloud can change its semblance, yet retain its will With the intimacy of destruction, One knows what it is to be alive The empty sky holds no reflection, for sorrow - Eslo Rudkey |

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
That would be an interesting combo with Gorgon able to then move them around a bit with his SA once they lose flying.

Flying negation could be cool. Are we thinking just a simple passive power:

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
I was initially thinking of just an aura effect where all opponents figures within X clear sight spaces of her can not use the flying special power. However that X reveal idea combined with the preventing of someone from flying seems like it could be cool. Someone starts flying towards her and then she reveals the X and blows them down to earth, grounding them in place and preventing them from reaching her that turn. Maybe combine both somehow where she can have a aura that makes her work well with Gorgon and also can reveal the X to ground someone currently trying to fly by her and ending their move early.

I like what I smell cooking in here.

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
If we're going with four powers here, we're going to have to keep them each pretty simple (my second suggestion above is probably already too wordy/complex). Anything with multiple triggers is going to be too much I think. Maybe:

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
I get what you are saying on simplicity and space management with a four power card, but that power just gets a 'meh' from me. As is it doesn't do anything for Gorgon since it ends at the end of the other players turn. Perhaps the Gorgon tie in is not really needed here though as it really won't make that big of a difference, he only moves non-flying figures one space so we don't have to try that hard to make them a combo. Cutting the Gorgon connection out shortens and simplifies it some, in which case I prefer the grounded idea. Here's my attempt at making it short and simple.
GROUNDED When an opponents figure within 5? clear sight spaces of Crystal moves using the Flying special power, you may immediately reveal the X Order Marker on this card. If you do, return that figure to the last space it legally occupied, it may not move again for the remainder of this turn. |

Re: The Book of Crystal - Design
I'm personally not big on totally preventing movement, but preventing someone from Flying sounds cool to me. It's not always extremely useful, but it makes for a fun power with some strategic uses.
