With this change I'm not convinced they're gonna be worth 130 points so I want to send them out to public testing at 120.

Units: Green Lantern x4 (120 x 4 = 480), Kilowog (310) (790) VS Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Arsenal (790)

Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: Titans move out. Kilowog trains his recruits by burning two battery markers. A recruit puts 3 wounds onto Arsenal, then a second recruit kills Arsenal, charging up his adjacent ally.

Round 2: The GL recruits put 4 wounds on Starfire to start. The Titans put a wound each on two GL recruits. The GLs kill Starfire (recharging no one, as no one is adjacent). Raven soul selfs a second wound onto a GL recruit. The GLs put 2 wounds onto Raven. Nightwing puts a second wound onto a GL recruit.

Round 3: The GLs put 2 more wounds onto Raven. Raven soul selfs to kill a GL recruit, then Nightwing wounds another GL recruit. The GLs kill Raven (burning one marker to ensure the kill, and recharging no one, as the one that got the kill was not adjacent to other GL recruits). Nightwing fails. The GLs fail. Nightwing kills one GL recruit and puts a second wound on another.

Round 4: The GLs put 3 wounds onto Nightwing. Nightwing puts 2 wounds on the unwounded GL recruit. Nightwing forces a GL recruit to burn its battery on defense.

Round 5: Nightwing kills both recruits with a lucky 3-skull Escrima. Nightwing wounds Kilowog, then Kilowog kills Nightwing.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Kilowog (1 wound, 0 batteries) wins.

Brutally effective offense from the Green Lanterns. Nightwing’s dodging ability was the only thing that slowed them down - they brutalized Arsenal and Starfire and could reach them easily thanks to their insanely fast speed.

Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: Kilowog charges his recruits. The X-Men move up. Two Recruits charge forward and put 4 wounds on Phoenix (and causes Beast one wound from Phoenix Fire). Blob ties down the two Recruits and inflicts two wounds on a Recruit and burns its battery marker, then Beast kills the wounded Recruit and wounds the other.

Round 2: Phoenix puts a second wound on the Recruit. One Recruit rushes up and is blocked, the other attacks Beast and burns his battery marker for a total of 3 wounds. Phoenix kills a Recruit, then Blob locks down the other Recruit. The Recruit is blocked by Blob, then the other rushes forward and kills Beast - charging the adjacent Recruit up to two batteries. Blob locks down the Recruits and Phoenix wounds one of them. The Recruits can’t get past Blob.

Round 3: Blob nearly kills a Recruit, but it and the adjacent Recruit both burn a battery marker to save it from death (and thus avoid losing OMs). The Recruits put 3 wounds onto Blob. Phoenix kills the wounded Recruit and Blob wounds the other. The Recruit is blocked. Phoenix and Blob kill the last Recruit. Kilowog moves up.

Round 4: Kilowog lands the last wound onto Phoenix. He and Blob trade a few blows, and Kilowog actually ends up killing Blob thanks to rolling 5 skulls against 1 shield.

Round 5: Kilowog puts 3 wounds on Professor X, while Professor X manages one wound onto Kilowog.

Round 6: Professor X manages one wound onto Kilowog before falling.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Kilowog (2 wounds, 0 batteries) wins.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Pretty strong army when combined with Kilowog. They’re weak defensively, but two attacks of 6+ are pretty good. And when one falls, they’re easily reinforced with another GL from the start zone as they’re so fast. Two wins, but both came down to Kilowog, so they’re probably close to balanced. I’d probably take them up 10 points depending on how other tests go.

Cool well AlexH is the other tester, so I might need a third. Not in a rush here though. I did talk to him about his armies. I had poor luck but they felt close, I wouldn't be surprised if they needed to go back up to 130.

Not really, they're pretty straightforward army filler in my opinion. Maybe one test with Kilowog and one without?

Appreciate it. Definitely want them to be good with Kilowog, but hope they're ok without him. So far all the tests have had him in it.

Just a thought, but could we tag these guys as Resolute (same personality as 'wog) and simplify the wording to key on that instead of Uncommon/Drill Instructor?

Saves a couple words, and it'd give us more flexibility to opt future designs in or out. (In the case of some Unique Green Lantern that should work well with them but isn't a Drill Instructor, or less likely, some Uncommon Green Lantern that shouldn't work with them.)
