I mean, my logic: if he doesn't look like AoA Gambit, he doesn't do any of the things that make AoA Gambit unique, why is he AoA Gambit? If someone really loved that specific iteration of the character, would they be satisfied with this design?
I'm definitely concerned about the "Mutant Rebel" faction becoming AoA + whatever 2.0s we arbitrarily slot into that group, but I feel like Gambit is one of those "morally ambiguous former villain" types, like Rogue and Wanda, that a 616 2.0 that's a Rebel works well enough.
