Re: The Book of Pluto (Playtesting Phase)
I ran some games with Pluto as a solo-hero. At first I was skeptical about him still being useful, but after three games he felt about spot on. He goes really nice with units like Ms. Marvel, and works great with a shield (Lurkers work very nicely for that I found out). If he can score kills he's not going to do great, but if he can, he can be a real force to reckon with. I did find he had a lot of trouble holding unto the Helm, though what made it worse was that I was playing on Crash Landing and the enemy just kept placing it in molten lava, effectively removing it from the game.
Overall, he gets a from me.

GAME SUMMARY:
Dice were wacky this game. Mar-Vall came out in the second round and dealt Ms. Marvel 4 wounds in one attack. Pluto and Ms. Marvel tried to take him on but couldn’t do damage; however, Pluto took wounds from Cosmic Awareness, and his Helm of Invisibility went flying into the molten lava. Ms. Marvel was dead by the end of the second round. However, lava field, followed by Pluto’s attack, killed Mar-Vell in the third round, but at this point Pluto only had 1 life left, and he was stuck engaged while on lava field. At the end of the round, both him and the Scout tying him down succumbed to the heat. Atom wasn’t even able to score a single kill before the Scouts took him down.

Army Test
Map: Crash Landing (no glyphs or special rules)
Units: Pluto, Robot, Lurker x10 (890 points) VS Nick Fury, SHIELD Agents x3, Spider-Woman, Mockingbird (890 points)
Spoiler Alert!
UNIT SUM-UP
Damage: 2 wounds to Mockingbird, 3 wounds to Spider-Woman, 7 SHIELD Agents, all 5 wounds to Fury.
Power Usage/Effectiveness:
Hades’ Helm: Was very useful.
Lord of Hades: Destroyed 10 figures; used 5 figures to boost attack, used 4 figures to boost defense.
Olympian Fortitude: Prevented 0 wounds.
GAME SUMMARY:
A dice off had the Lurkers being placed first, where they decided to swarm outside the enemy base. The Drop Team put Mockingbird and Spider-Woman out on the field, while Fury decided to hide in his base. The Lurkers did a great job slowing down the Agents while Pluto and Robot took on the Agent heroes. They were able to kill both Mockingbird and Spider-Woman in the second round, though not before Robot had taken 4 wounds. Fury and the Agents were able to push and take out the last of the Lurkers before the end of the second round, then opened the third by finishing off Robot. Things were looking bad for Pluto when an Agent snuck in on him, dealing a single wound to knock away his Helm. But then things swung in his favor as he used height advantage plus 3 figures via Lord of Hades to kill Nick Fury in a single attack. This left the Agents with a couple OMs missing, giving Pluto the time to take a couple out. The last of the Agents put up a good fight, and for a bit it looked like they’d actually take Pluto down, but in the end he came out on top, just barely.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Pluto works nicely at 430. His stats plus range immunity can make him real tough to take down, and if he consistently scores kills, he can throw some really big attacks. He does definitely rely on having a screen and/or other big targets on his team though; overall, I could see him coming in anywhere in the 400-430 range.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Pluto makes for a fun tank figure, especially with his Helm thrown in. Deciding whether to use Lord of Hades for offense or defense makes for some interesting play.
