Re: The Book of Psimon (Public Testing)
Quote:
C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Psimon
Army Test
Map: Spring Thaw
Units: Psimon (230), Jinx, Mammoth, Shimmer, Gizmo, and Mechanical Constructs x3 (1030) vs. Green Lantern (Hal), Green Lantern (Guy), Green Lantern (Kilowog), and Green Construct (Decoy) (1030).
Spoiler Alert!
Normal Attack Damage:
2 wound(s) on Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) in R4T2
Psimon Says:
7 turns with friendly figures
2 turns with enemy figures
The first round goes really rough for the Fearsome Five as Psimon fails both his rolls on the first turn. Kilowog starts boosting the Lanterns and they rush toward the middle of the map, finding a prime target on a freshly moved Gizmo, who gets taken out early after a few attacks. Things begin to look up for the Five in the next round as Guy Gardner’s battery markers begin getting eaten up by shielding, and he even gets wounded by Mammoth off some successful Psimon activations. Jinx’s defenses fail though and Mammoth falls to Guy’s Willful Overextend. The fight rages on but the Fearsome aren’t out yet. They set up a decent pod on height and Psimon goes off on activations, allowing Shimmer to slay Guy Gardner with an excellent Elemental Transmutation, also wounding Hal Jordan. Jinx falls to repeated blows from the lanterns, and Shimmer falls shortly afterwards, but Psimon turns up the heat and deals half health damage to Hal Jordan, proceeding to take control of him and move him away. Psimon starts wounding Kilowog and even takes control of him, but Kilowog smashes Psimon to bits and starts taking out Mechanical Constructs. The Construct mobilize and slay the Decoy handily. The Constructs don’t stop and they barrage Kilowog and Hal, taking Hal out in a few turns and then proceeding to the deathmatch against Kilowog. It’s awfully close, but in the end, 2 Mechanical Constructs make it out alive!
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): 2/9 Mechanical Constructs.

Army Test
Map: Spring Thaw
Units: Psimon (230), Jinx, Shimmer, Mammoth, and Meggan (955) vs. Catwoman I, Gambit, Black Cat, Crime Alley Crooks x3, and Cable (955).
Spoiler Alert!
Normal Attack Damage:
2 wound(s) on Black Cat in R2T1
1 wound(s) on Black Cat in R2T2
1 wound(s) on Crime Alley Crook (kill) in R3T1
1 wound(s) on Crime Alley Crook (kill) in R3T2
1 wound(s) on Crime Alley Crook (kill) in R4T2
3 wound(s) on Catwoman in R4T3
1 wound(s) on Catwoman in R5T2
1 wound(s) on Catwoman in R6T1
1 wound(s) on Gambit in R7T1
Psimon Says:
17 turns with friendly figures
4 turns with enemy figures
Meggan copies Psimon’s trait box. Round One just sees advancement from both teams as Black Cat tries to get into position to disrupt Psimon Says and Jinx Field. Round Two sees a ton of action! Black Cat gets within Bad Luck Aura range and wreaks havoc over the course of the round. Psimon and his friends team up to take her out, but it takes every last attack and every last roll of the round to do so. Meanwhile, as Crime Alley Crooks advance, Catwoman gets an incredible Whip Lash chain onto Mammoth, nearly killing him. Unfortunately, Cable can’t finish the job on his turn. Mammoth falls early in the next round but the Five start picking off Crime Alley Crooks. Catwoman and Gambit being advancing and the Crooks start damaging Jinx and Meggan. Catwoman takes some wounds but Cable lets loose on Jinx and brings her near death. Psimon puts in serious work to wound Catwoman and eliminate some Crooks, but the Thieves don’t stop the heat and take out Jinx with Meggan soon to follow. Down to jut Psimon and Shimmer, the duo begins to damage Cable. Shimmer falls to Cable but Psimon gets some good Psimon Says rolls and orchestrates the death of all but one Crook to the hands of Gambit. Mental Dominance allows Psimon to hold on long enough to take out Catwoman with Gambit, but Cable outranges the ability and finishes the game.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): 1/9 Crime Alley Crooks, Gambit w/ 1 wound, and Cable w/ 3 wounds.
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Psimon is feeling really good at 240-250 after Game 1. He does wonders for his team with the potential triple turns, isn’t incredibly easy to kill, and can really perform on his own if it comes down to it. Game 2 was also fairly close, but Psimon didn’t overperform here, leading me to believe he is alright sitting at 230 or maybe 240.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Psimon is incredibly effective and pieces together the Fearsome Five nicely. Mental Dominance keeps him alive while he offers another unique multi-turn option within our game.
