I think at this point WotC's strategy is pretty clear: don't make things that compete with MtG or DnD, only makes things that are either directly MtG or DnD, or that can directly and immediately tie...

I ran the numbers and you are correct. It is a slim margin,(like .13% or something), but 3 attacks of 3 has a slightly higher chance of dealing a wound on 9 defense than 1 attack of 5. I guess...

While I want to like these guys because they are so "elite," 2 more squads of venoc vipers are pretty much always a better choice, unless you are short on starting spaces.

It's not just you. 3 defense on a 130 melee squad squad is always bad math. The Einar Emperium suffer from the same malady, and they even have Kiova to help boost their defense
