Character Bio – “Superboy-Prime is from a parallel Earth called Earth-Prime, devoid of any superheroes, or even superhumans. There, Superman and the other comic superheroes were fictional characters, as they were in real life. The Earth-Prime universe was erased during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Superboy-Prime ended up in a "paradise" dimension where during that time, he found himself unable to let go of his former life and destiny as Earth's greatest hero.
Over time, his convictions and morals become twisted and warped, and he came to believe that Earth-Prime is the only proper Earth and that Superboy-Prime was the only one worthy of the Superboy mantle. Prime firmly believes that being Superman is his calling despite the fact that he has become a psychotic and murderous villain. HEROIC ENVY
When another figure you control inflicts one or more wounds with its normal attack on an enemy figure within 10 clear sight spaces of Superboy-Prime, Superboy-Prime must immediately move adjacent to the attacking figure, if possible, and attack all figures adjacent to Superboy-Prime. After attacking, your player turn immediately ends. When Superboy-Prime uses Heroic Envy, he will take all leaving engagement attacks.

RETCON PUNCH
Once per game, if Superboy-Prime would be destroyed, after placing any wounds, roll 10 attack dice. For each skull rolled, remove a Wound Marker from this card, then each player may place a previously destroyed figure in their army onto an empty space in their start zone. Place or remove Wound Markers until each figure placed has up to 2 Life remaining.

He is really going to prolong games with that punch. Seems like he's going to be really swingy and will likely require 3+ sets of tests.

Yeah, that's fair. But the Ret-Con punch is too much his thing to avoid, and Event Heroes do crazy things to the game, so I think that's all OK. :-)

I know Retcon Punch is a huge part of this design, but I'm honestly not a fan of it. It doesn't accurately portray anything he's done in the comics (that punch was not during a battle or purposeful, it was just a writing excuse).

I think it's worth taking Anti-Monitor Armor down to 2 and raising his defense to base 5. It's weird that Superboy-Prime is ever weaker than normal Superman, but I like that power. In fact, I'd take out the Kryptonian line from Prime Earth Kryptonian. Prime should always beat Superman in a one on one fight and I don't know if that would happen in the current draft.

Love the design overall. Heroic Envy is perfect.

I think the Kryptonian line should stay. It was Kryptonians who finally took him down in Infinite Crisis, and he has a rivalry with Conner for sure. If we need him to be tougher I think other things should be tweaked, such as how long the armor lasts or his total life. I like that once the armor is off, he’s a lower defense/higher life Kryptonian. Feels very right for the character, whose defense is really just killing people.

Feel similarly about the Retcon Punch. Yes, it’s a gamey translation of what actually happened. But I’ve always been a believer that mechanics should focus more on capturing the feel of characters rather than a literal translation of exactly what they do. (Green Lanterns, for example)
