V.2.1 (only is .hsc file...sorry)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-P...attled+Fen.bmp

V.2.2 (only in .hsc file)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2...led+Fen+II.bmp

I like the V.2 version overall. And if I have to choose between the two V.2 versions, it would be V.2.1 because it holds the Embattled Fen look a little more (just because of the level 3 two hexes on V.2.2).

However, both allow 5-move figures to get to Wannok in 2 turns.

The real question I keep asking myself when reviewing this map is:

Is this change enough to make the BoV not say, "this plays too much like Embattled Fen. NtR." or something like that?

I think the answer's "yes". With most of the height being Lava, ranged figures can't camp like the do on Embattled Fen...and when you're playing (C3V) Skeletons on Embattled Fen vs. a Ranged-pod, forget it. I've tried. Extremely unsuccessful. The slow moving Skeletons (or Knights or whatever) too easily get shot down in the wide open trying to engage the opponent. This mostly eliminates that problem, and I like that. :D

I think you really should ask the original creator of Embattled Fen for permission if you ever consider submitting this to the BoV (after lots of tournament testing, of course).

I'm not considering it at all right now (or probably a while into the future). I'm just saying that's the question I have to ask myself (for if I ever did consider it). Is this just another Embattled Fen, or does it just look like Embattled Fen but really brings a whole new game board to the table? And I think it does.

But really? Out of all of that, that's all you wanted to comment on? ;)

Uhh.... Yea... The battlements are uneven in number on each side on the middle two rows partially overlooking the water.

Grr... that's my bad. The row to the left is the correct way. Just like the original Embattled Fen. Only 4.

Only one thing that I can find in my quick 30-second examination; the glyph is six flying spaces away from the left side of either SZ, while it is 7 from the right side.

It's actually 8 from the right, but that doesn't help.

I'm looking at Battleplan right now to see what the 6-7 move fliers there are that would want to hold a glyph. Clearly that eliminates Raelin and Dragons. The Black and White Wyrmlings come to mind, though. Marcu, and maybe Theracus (depending on which way he's carrying his buddy) also would want the glyph. Lastly, the PKs and Shades of Bleakwoode, would want the glyph.

Two names there I see to warrant a change - Wyrmlings and PKs - PKs more than Wyrmlings (which is ironic because I'm playing the PKs at the tourney). Maybe Marcu but I don't think I'd fly him out there in the early rounds to be destroyed pretty quick.

I could add a grass piece to the back of the SZ and take out the SZ in the water. That would make it 8 from the right and 7 from the left. This tosses out the PKs and Wyrmlings. It leaves Marcu, Theracus, and the SoBs, but none of them are major threats to being glyph-holders.

I think I'll do that. Thanks for the advice, B_C! :D

Unfinished Business - 7/3/13 - .hsc
Requires: 1 RotV and 1 FotA (no wall walks)
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_...d+Business.bmp

Renamed because of Nirek at the tourney. I like it better anyways.

Also, I updated the file with the corrected SZs and added some battlements.

I wouldn't. It'd be better if you placed a single hex tile there instead. If you were going to place a glyph, make it a temporary, heal or summon maybe.

After several months of no 'Scape I pulled it bac out and tweaked The Hotways or the Highway once again. I think it looks even greater (aesthetically), and also plays a lot better too. Take a look! .pdf and online version below. :D

For Every Inch - 3/1/14 - HS2010'S Map Thread

Here's a new map I built tonight. I haven't gotten the chance to play on it but it looks like a solid, quick-paced map. Named after the "Fight For Every Inch" phrase in Football, I present to you, "For Every Inch":

For Every Inch
1 SotM, 1 Marvel, 1 Castle, 1 TJ
