TWAMP-lite
 

For anyone not familiar with it, The Tournament Worthy Asymetric Map Project is an ambitious project to design, test and refine highly asymetric maps to balance them for tournament play. Some of the maps there have seen tournament play, but often are met with resistance. To try to help start shifting acceptence of asymetric maps I've decided to collect some of the maps that are in the TWAMP referred to as "pseudo-symetric" (maps that appear asymetric, but tactically are very near symetric-similiar access to height, glyphs, jungle, road, etc.) in the hopes that they begin to see additional analysis and play, paving the way for broader acceptance of highly asymetric maps (plus all of these maps are just plain awesome :D).

This "pseudo-symmetry" is my favorite type of map. Are you avoiding BoV maps? Mole Hills, Arctic Divide, Ruins of Pine Tree Marsh, Turret Rocks, Ticalla Sunrise, Elswin Plateau, and Fossil would all work well.

Great idea, Killometer!

Personally, I don't think "In the Shadow of the Hive" and "Fossil" should be included because they're so close to perefect symmetry, only off by a few hexes.


Either way, it's not a big deal. It's just what I think. :2cents:

I think you're right about Fossil, rednax, so I removed it, but I'm going to leave up In the Shadow of the Hive. I also added Common Ground by GameBear, and my Horseshoe Hill to the OP.

I'm going to start listing tourneys where any of these maps made appearences, so if you know any, pass the word along. :D

Edit: Except for BOV maps-that honor is self-explanatory.

I would argue that Coastal Cavern by Gamebear is a fully asymmetrical map, as it looks and plays completely different depending on what side you are on.
