Maybe it's because Heroscape was the only game I played, maybe it's because I'm sure to get plenty of physical exercise, maybe I'm completely nuts. Actually I am completely nuts, but that's not the point. Up until now I've always had a reason/excuse for why I wasn't quite as nerdy as the next guy. Until a few months ago. I don't know what brought it on, but suddenly, and I mean literally overnight. I was comfortable with my geek habits. And not only comfortable, proud. I was able to stand up and say. This is what I like, take it or leave it, and I did. I enjoy games, I always have. It started when I was eight years old and bought my first pack of yugioh cards. Then when I was twelve and was given my first Rise of the Valkyrie master set for Christmas. For some reason I always made an excuse. Heroscape isn't that nerdy. It's got simple rules. Lot's of stuff like that. I'm past that now, and this was literally overnight. And what better way to celebrate my newfound acceptance than with a full day of Castle Ravenloft and Heroscape?

Yes, I suppose you're right Kaiyu. I'm holding off DnD as long as possible, not because I'm attempting to deny my nerdiness (which I openly embrace
 ) but because it seems so freakin' hard! I bought a few Chain Golems for custom-making, took one hard look at the cards, then tossed them in the recycling bin. |

I played dnd once and hated it. The roleplaying aspect was fun, but I can't believe that it can even be considered a game. Reading the rules felt more like a math textbook than a game. To each his own, but it is not the game for me.

I have tried to get into DnD, but I got mad at it. I am mad at RPGs in general. I got mad at the Star Wars role playing game too. I guess it is because it is assumed that I'd be the GM, because I am the only person I game with who has any drive and determination to undertake something like this. The problem is I don't have the mental ability to GM an RPG, its just too much work. Thats why I am looking forward to Castle Ravenloft. So I am a geek who thinks RPG's are bad.

I never played DnD, though I'll openly admit I'm a nerd. I tried to look at the rules for DnD and was confused as all hell!!! Though my friends and I did have a paper-based RPG that was simple enough(but with some strategy).

Personally I am one of those in the closet geeks, to the world I never really try to let any body know that I play D&D, heroscape, or half the other nerdy stuff I do, but I still like doing it, and I enjoy it. D&D is one of those things that takes a long time to get into, but once you do it can give you literally hours of entertainment. you can play for whole days with out quitting just because you forget to check the time. But yes on this site at least I will admit I am a total geek

I dont tell anyone I'm a geek. I'm a nerd, everyone knows that, due to grades, but I've only ever talked about Heroscape with the select group of ~5 people that I play against.

I taught myself DnD by reading the SRD over and over and over again because I was to cheap to buy an actual book that explained it. Sure it didn't tell rules about leveling or Xp or anything, but I know everything else
