Buried over in the D&D Scenario's forum sits a
thread of my dungeon crawl ideas that was born when D&D began to invade Heroscape. With me not being a huge custom creator, it didn't take off very far. However, there is one idea in there that I think can be immensly epic and super fun - Betrayal of Utgar.
Probably my favorite video games of all time are the Final Fantasy series - especially the SNES era games (IV, V, and VI are my favorite. VII and X were also very good games, and I've played most others). Once Heroscape started down the fantasy road for the long haul, I started to try and come up with a way to make a Heroscape campaign that played like Final Fantasy does. That's how Betrayal of Utgar was born.
BoU is set after the end of the War of the Valkyrie. Utgar mysteriously has a parley with Jandar and agrees to a truce. All of the sudden, he is no longer obsessed with taking over Valhalla and controlling the Wellsprings, and is content to remain...
