Well met!

I am 61 years old today. I am a , true, only by marriage, but one nonetheless (actually a great-grandfather of a child I have not seen - a long, sad story). I have a treasure of a wife, Babs - fitness professional . I am fit enough that I am often taken for a man 15 years younger (used to be 20 ). I have a steady job, plenty to eat (although I don't eat plenty ), and live in a three-bedroom apartment, nicely maintained by my wife (and, for the time being, my stepdaughter ). I have been gifted with a sharp mind and a voice sounding like a combination of Johnny Hartman and Samuel Ramey. I am a most fortunate man.

In my saner moments, I adhere to the ideas that the world is perfect as it is, everything that happens is a lesson related to our level of enlightenment in our current incarnation (happens for a reason), we are works in progress, our attitude determines how we see the world and how it sees us, etc., etc.,...

The Gang of Four is traveling together to Clan's tourney on 4/16/11 (link below), necessitating an overnight stay in Baltimore ("I think this is the end of a beautiful friendship").

At least chas talked me out of bringing a map ("anyone crossing 3 state lines to get to a tourney shouldn't have to worry about @#$% terrain" [or words to that effect ]), so Dad's prophecy concerning it (three and a half hours on my lap) can't happen .

Initially, I was thinking of playing Phantom Knights (which Dad coincidentally won with in a similar Clan event not too long ago), but with other melee units, in hopes of impressing through my brilliant play with less than the best army I could field.

Since then, I have come to realize, through recent experience (chas' comments to the contrary ), that I'm not all that brilliant. [Not to mention...

The Battle Report.

I chose to field Tagawa Samurai Archers as my screen, without Raelin - and paid the price. My vaunted Wyvern/Tagawa Samurai synergy never had a chance to materialize. In hindsight, there are many things I wish I had done differently. I'll let the other members of the Gang of Four fill in the salient details, as anything else I might say would be whining.

The Lesson.

The scales have (again) fallen from my eyes! I am not all that. [I need to re-reread my signature.] I am not one of those great players that can invariably turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. That realization has caused me to reconsider the army I had chosen for Clancampbell's Multiplayer Madness on April 16th. I had thought to field:

140 Phantom Knights x 2
110 Drake RotV
110 Ninjas...
