Gnomes Of Fire

Posted February 28th, 2018 at 12:32 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
We’ve always got some kind of scape gaming going. Right now we have two big long term games and a challenge. We’re really into the challenge partly because it’s a break from the big games, which can take months and months.

The challenge is simple. Two 1200 point armies try to win either by conquest or by simultaneously standing on 3/4 meaningless glyphs on a large playing field.

I have to say that playing with my two sons is amazing. They’re both good sports, good spirits and good players. I often feel that I’m the weakest among the three. They’re old now, with part time jobs and school but we’re all playing together again and that’s wonderful. It’s treasure.

The winner of the challenge gets to be the 1200 point army in the next game. The two losers are on the same team and each field 600 points. If the losers win they have to choose who’ll be the 1200 point player. My middle son was just unseated after winning five games in a row,...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 9

FFC #9 - A Brief Update

This entry will just be a quick update on where things stand, as some things have changed since the last entry.

The last thing I had said was that I had found a setting for TLFF, Dilmir was still looking to be a fan fiction, and I had an idea for my novels.

TLFF is right where I left it. The setting is still as strong as before, though to be fair, I haven't really tested it yet. But for the moment, it looks to be holding.

My novels have progressed some. I'm currently trying to define the theme properly between banging my head against HiS's plot. But it is coming along, and the setting still seems solid - what there is of it.

The biggest change is with Dilmir. Dilmir has the annoying theme which doesn't have enough interest to be of novel calibre, and yet is too important not to be in a novel.

So at the moment, I have reached a compromise with myself: I will continue with this new...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 8

FFC #8 - Battle of the Infinite Series

It's very important to keep in mind that everything I say in these FFC's is subject to change, and that said change can happen very easily and without the slightest warning. Especially in this case.

Releasing details of something which is only in the earliest possible stages of conceptualization is inherently a bad idea, due precisely to the chance for it to change. That being said, I'm doing it anyway. Take it with a large grain of salt. You've been warned.

I recently mentioned how I had found the setting for my Dilmir series. I still have that, though it is slightly less stable than when I found it. Anything is possible when I develop the theme: it could solidify and be perfect, or it could fall apart completely. Time will tell.

I also mentioned how I didn't have a setting for TLFF - The Last Fan Fiction. Well... I have it now.

The theme from my last iteration of TLFF - By...

ARV Map Building Contest

Posted February 12th, 2018 at 10:51 PM by truth
THE CONTEST IS COMING ...
NEW THEME

Submissions will be open from February 21st – March 14th
Go to our Contest Thread to read all about it!

Map building is alive and well again, and the ARV comes to you with another map building contest to test your prowess at cartography. This contest's theme was pre-posted sot that you could begin preparing designs and thinking about what you want to do. You'll have roughly 2 weeks to prepare before submissions open so that you'll have more time to design and playtest before submitting.

Remember to keep map design focused on the theme. We STRONGLY suggest you look at basing your map builds off of Heroscape Lore for this contest (check the compendium for reference). Landmarks are very specific ... so we're looking for some creativity as well as accuracy.

Let's see Valhalla revealed!

Da Bomb!!

Posted February 12th, 2018 at 02:39 AM by flameslayer93
It's been a long while since I've talked strategy on this site. At least nothing serious anyways. So today, I think I'll use my blog to talk about Deathwalker 7000. Now, a lot of this is just theory, since I don't believe I've used him in a long time. Heck, maybe only twice.

First, let's really break the 'borg down. He has all kinds of things going against him, the classic 1 Life for Deathwalkers, a ranking of Unique, and a power that still kills him even if it fails. To make matters worse, he is moderately expensive at 100 points, and has little synergy in Classic 'Scape. But he has a really good pair of powers, even if his main thing has a large margin of error, and a good defense rating of 7.

C3V/SoV units have given this soulborg a new chance though. Not necessarily a great new perspective on life so that he should avoid blowing up of course, he still has that thing going for him, but at least he isn't an OM sink anymore. Zettian Infantry, and Hoplitrons...
