Hey there, SuperflyTNT here putting out more innane facts, opinions, and other random stuff than you can possibly care about....

Here's my first thought:

I live in Kentucky, which is not exactly the most "progressive" place on earth, in fact it's pretty much ass-backward in a lot of ways. I travel a lot for work, and as such I see all kinds of things, some interesting, some disturbing, some just plain stupid.

One such event happened not too far back as I was heading south on I-75 toward Tennesee. There's a place called Corbin, Kentucky that's only claim to fame is that the original Kentucky Fried Chicken was there.

I had to stop for gas in the vicinity and so I got off the exit ramp and made a quick right to the local fillin' station. I was dressed in a suit, and so I wasn't exactly fitting in to begin with. As I got out, I noticed a mullet-bearing twentysomething wearing a trucker cap, no shoes, no shirt, and his Levis were not only not buttoned or zipped, but the guy was clearly "going commando" with a tuft of fur-bikini hanging out. He was filling up his Toyota LUV pickup truck, more rust than metal, and glaring at me. At this point I was trying not to retch at the sight of him, and trying not to crack up laughing all at once. I wasn't too worried about a confrontation as I am a bit of a scrapper to begin with and I had a loaded Springfield 1911, 45 caliber handgun locked, cocked and ready to rock nestled in it's WRB holster in the glove box as allowed by State Law.

I turned and continued to pump my gas and realized I wanted some iced tea as I had an hour more to drive, and so when finished fueling I went into the shop. As I entered I witnessed 4 incredibly homely women standing in line near the counter, all with the same items mostly - milk and bread, and each toting at least 2 kids under the age of 6 or so. I got my tea and stood in line, and noticed a peculiarity - they all were bearing government checks and were there to cash them and get the staples for the day.

When I got to the counter I noticed another oddity - on the counter behind the register there was 3 similarly sized displays - on the left tobacco products, on the right was whiskeys, gins, and vodkas, and in the middle was a copious amount of rifle and handgun ammunition.

At that very moment, I had an epiphony; the state motto for Kentucky is "Kentucky, Where education pays". I immediately came up with two more appropriate slogans: "Kentucky, stepping stone to somewhere better", and "Kentucky, where you too can collect gub'ment cheese."

The moral of this little tidbit is that the politicians get richer, more powerful, and help corporations bleed the cash from every facet of our lives without regulation or accountability while the unwashed masses rot in their unrewarding lives unaware that there is indeed a better way - a way to truly "Live the Dream", and the wool has been pulled over their eyes to the truth of what's really going on in the United States. Blinded by Infomercials starring Billy "Old Yeller" Mays offering something for nothing and the legions of more and more trite and disgusting television programming that's on every channel, twenty-four seven, how can we possibly dig ourselves out from the hole we've dug since the "New Deal"?

The British lawyer and author Alexander Tytler so succinctly put it:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship".

The real question here is "Why the F do we keep electing these people based upon promises of temporary montary gain while the real problems, not just the symptoms, go unredressed"?
