Flygon can pair up with certain Pokemon to hunt down their prey, shielding them from range if sand is available and paralyzing targets thanks to Dragon Breath. Tyranitar is a strong partner for Flygon, who can utilise the sand Tyranitar makes to hide them both, as well as being immune to the Sand Stream damage. Other good partners include Garchomp, Dragonite, and Clodsire.

Gourgeist relies on its various disruption abilities to trap and defeat enemies. It can let out its Eerie Song to weaken enemies around it, opening up a target for an ally to take out, or to weaken an enemy further that’s already caught in the Ensnaring Hair. Ghost Pokemon are strong partners for Gourgeist thanks to their immunity to Eerie Song, and Serperior can instead receive buffs to its stats thanks to its ability Contrary.

Skuntank is a cheaper Pokemon that can protect allies with its Smokescreen, and spread burns and poisons. Flamethrower also provides an additional type for Skuntank to attack with, and Poison Gas can be used on both allies and enemies. This can be used to prevent other status afflicting your team, or to allow Machamp to activate its Guts ability.

It focuses psychic energy into its tail and rides it like it's surfing. Another name for this Pokémon is “hodad.”

It can sprint at over 70 mph while carrying a human. The rider's body heat warms Cyclizar's back and lifts the Pokémon's spirit.

Raichu can replace the move and attack of ally Pokemon, allowing it to essentially bond with a variety of Pokemon, or substitute half turns where a Pokemon may not need to move or attack. Its Surge Surfer ability can keep it moving, and Thunderbolt can help to hit figures clumped together and extend its range. Raichu can work with a variety of Pokemon, starting with Pokemon like Empoleon, Stunfisk, and Pikachu, but extending to anyone who’s wounded!

Cyclizar can carry other Pokemon around, even during their own turns! It can also evade attacks and move thanks to Shed Tail. It pairs well with slower Pokemon, such as Clodsire and Gourgeist, as well as bonding Pokemon to keep allies in range, such as Tsareena and Empoleon. Audino can also be a good partner, healing Cyclizar of wounds from Shed Tail whilst quickly getting to allies to heal them.

Once Gyarados goes on a rampage, its ferociously violent blood doesn't calm until it has burned everything down. There are records of this Pokémon's rampages lasting a whole month.

When weakened in battle, it transforms into a stone statue. Then it sharpens its mind and fights on mentally.

Gyarados can charge into battle with little to fear, forcing engagements with its Hyper Beam, weakening nearby enemies that try attacking it, and can retaliate to any that do wound it with enraged attacks. Gengar can be a great ally thanks to its ability to move wound markers to or from its card. Tsareena can be another great pair to protect it from unblockables, and Cinderace can boost its Move to help it close gaps.

Darmanitan is a frail, high power melee fighter that’s best paired with Pokemon like Ninetales to help its longevity. After taking enough damage, Darmanitan will revert to its Zen Mode form. Unable to move but slowly healing and attacking from range, Darmanitan will appreciate the support of Ninetales, Tsareena, or Audino to make sure it heals back to Standard Mode. In return, Darmanitan can pin an enemy down thanks to Hammer Arm, protecting allies on the next turn from a Pokemon that’s gotten too close.

Darmanitan is awesome though, one of my favourite mons ever. Just a big angry monkey.

My second favorite big angry monkey pokemon, I really like the zen mode mechanic! Always fun to try to balance between the forms, reminds me of wishiwashi hammer arm seems to help a lot into making it not just a huge damage dealer
