Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

On Sunday I got in 2x Farkle, 1x Space Checkers, and 1x Settlers of Catan: America with my dad and sister. My dad and my sister each won in Farkle (I think). My dad won in Space Checkers, though it was pretty close in the end - I had nine pawns captured, and my sister had either seven or eight. In Settlers, I won by delivering all of my goods. We *did* find out that we were playing wrong - we were only delivering goods to our own cities, and the rules say we can't do that. Instead, we should've been delivering to each others' cities. Oh well.

Yesterday I got in 1x Pokemon the Card Game and 3x The Resistance. In Pokemon, we had a 6-player battle. It was fun, but pretty short. We would all gang up on one person. The Resistance was very fun. It's basically a card game of CoN. The first game we were playing wrong by not switching leaders. The second game was really fun, because I lied about being a Spy (equivalent of a Puppet). So I threw everyone off. The last game we all got distracted/bored halfway through, since it was nearing midnight.

My tourney record: 14-32 or 30.43% wins

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Picked up Flash Point: Fire Rescue a couple of days ago and played through a few times solo to get a feel for the rules before I introduce it to others. I like this game a lot. Seems hard, but I'm ok with that.

Also ordered Zombicide. Looking forward to giving that one a go.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Started off the new year finishing a 6-player Settlers of Catan. Won with the longest road, 2 cities, and 4 settlements. Couldn't find a single victory point card. Had to survive four non-7 rolls in order to hold the 6 grain cards I needed to trade for the ore to upgrade to a city. Only game I'd ever played where every 8 was on a grain hex. We actually ran out of grain cards at one point. The others had 10 (would have won if it had made it to his turn), 9, 8, 8, and 7 VPs.

Great way to start off the year!

I know that I do not know.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Last night I rang in the new year with Cards Against Humanity and Questionable Fun

My Long Shot commission is now complete with the final 2 horses.

Here is a group shot of the whole set.

The Centipede for Mice and Mystics.

I like the sculpt of this mini, but it was a little bit of a pain to get to the legs on the inside of his coil.

Maginos is one of my favorite mice.

I love his little ladybug.

Now I only have cockroaches left to finish this commission and my own set.

For myself this week I finished my Dark Age Father of Mayhem

He was pretty fun to paint and is a pretty cool sculpt in my opinion.

I also finished up 3 more Middenland Halberdiers for my Empire army.

I enjoyed constructing these guys more than painting them and I think I enjoyed painting the Averland color scheme more than the Middenland one.

Gears of War commission is on the way, so I should be busy for a while as I plan on painting my copy as well as the commission copy. I will also have my other Jack Vasal contribution to paint whenever the winner decides what they want and ships it to me.

It has been a pretty productive year of painting in 2012 and I hope to produce even more in 2013.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Checkers with my 4 year old daughter... Trying to teach her how to play checkers is more accurate.

My dad never came up to visit, so I didn't get to play any real life Heroscape. Only Heroscape Online. I did get to play against Dalu and hes in belgium, so that was fun.

Have you tried Hexscape? 3D Heroscape Multiplayer Battle program!

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

We had a group of friends over for a New Year's Eve get-together and ended up playing a party trivia game called "Chicks vs Dudes." My first response when someone suggested it was to groan, but it ended up being a fun social game with lots of back-and-forth. For anyone keeping score, they guys won both games.

One of the games I received for Christmas was Zombicide, and I played two solo scenarios today just to get the rules down. I loved it, and now I am disappointed that I didn't kickstart it at the Abomination level. I would love to have some of the promo survivors, but I had just kickstarted Zpocalypse (which still looks great but hasn't arrived yet!), so I thought one was enough. In my games today, things started off well, but then it just went south quickly. I was amazed at how fast the board just turns into a tide of zombies. It was a great time, even solo, and I'm looking forward to teaching this one to my son.
