Any thoughts on this idea?

Could a group get together and start an unofficial committee that gives different custom figs a stamp of approval as being "legal" within the original game? It would be like adding a second type to tournaments and such. You could play "original" with only the original lineup and rules, or "type 2" where you could use approved customs?

Actually, as my preferred theme area of customization includes only figures that are expensive and come unpainted, my creations are ineligible for review by the C3V/SoV.

I would also like to see a group or committee that helps tweak cards into "legality", with a bit more relaxed rules on the sculpts being used... but maybe that's just me.

I've often romanticized the idea of having a thread where you post your custom and a group of experienced members would help cost them.

Well I'll be dipped. Thanks Sherman Davies, in all the different customs groups, I must've missed this one somehow... which is weird, because now that you've pointed it out, it seems like it's been pretty prominently displayed.

Now all we need is a group of players to get together in online Heroscape for the purpose of playtesting units (as opposed to just being critiqued asynchronously) to really help hone in on a unit's ideal price. Unless that already exists, in which case I happily look forward to adding another thread to my subscription list (and playtesting all these wonderful customs).

I was thinking the other day that such a play testing association as you suggest would be more possible these days with the online app in the mix. It could maybe use some sort of credift system, say every time you play test someone else's custom would be worth a credit, and every two credits or so would let you "buy" a play test from someone else of your own custom. Or something. Rough idea.
