Well that's true Clembo. But my response regarding Storm was due to the fact that she can automatically throw someone from anyhere on the map and not put herself in harms way.

Sure Magneto and Magma can be a nasty combination, but remember, Magneto only gets his special defense if he has the marker on his card, and when he has that marker on his card, he can't throw anyone. He can also only place or remove that marker from his card after revealing an Order Marker on his card. So he can't do that with Prof X controlling him on his team. The knock on Magneto for the longest time was that he was fragile without that special defense and only 4 lives for 310 points. So if you have Magma take a turn and throw out some Lava, then have Magneto remove his marker and move and attempt to throw an enemy figure into that lava, you will be risking getting Magneto killed because he'll only have 4 lives with a 5 defense. So there is a risk to that combination as well as the great reward. Also, there's nothing stopping an opponent from using a throwing figure to throw Magneto into Magma's lava too.


Graviton too can certainly be nasty with Magma. He requires 2 OM's on his card to get his auto shield for defense, but still has a 6 defense and 6 lives. He is also 400 points and has no bonding or synergies to combine with others. He can also be thrown into Lava as well, so you could be risking losing a 400 point figure as well if the opponent has a thrower/knockbacker.

Valid points regarding them being tough with Magma Clembo. But not necessarily automatic wins. Take out Magma early and limit the amount of lava thrown out. Blob can't be thrown or moved. Colossus and Red Hulk and others are Lava Resistant. So even though the Magma/Thrower combo is nasty and dangerous, there can even be counters to that.

But like I said, my comment regarding Storm was basically because of her auto throw from anywhere.

That much is a given! Though those poor non-Super Strength guys still only have a 25% chance to live, it's better than nothing though.

For sure. Also wipe out Magma as fast as possible (preferably from considerable range) before she gets those tiles out!

Can magma use ERUPTION to throw a molten lava tile at a opposing figure, or does it have to be a non occupied space? If I'm not asking this question right please let me know, thanks.

Start the game with 3 molten lava tiles on this card. After moving and instead of attacking, you may remove a molten lava tile from this card and place it on either the space Magma occupies or any empty land space within 3 spaces of Magma, if the molten lava tile fits normally onto that space.

I was complaining about Magma+Magneto/Gravitron being overpowered 4 years ago, and then 3 years later you guys nerfed her by nerfing the Molten Lava rules! Man, I knew I was ahead of the curve back then.

I would hope that nerfing the odds of instant death by 300% would be enough to make her reasonable!

By my calculations, this makes Magneto go from a 66.4% chance per OM for at least one instant kill (and a 17.6% chance for two instant killers per OM) to a 27.7% chance for at least one (and a 2.25% chance for two instant kills).

Which is still kind of terrifying when that insta-kill could be on Superman, but at least it's closer to being reasonable now.
