Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
I think I have my army picked out. I hope everyone who faces me on an odd is comfortable playing xxxxxxx!

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
I'll be there. Woohoo! (Also, finally back to posting on heroscapers (also a reason to woohoo!)).
I've got +2 that might be joining us... I'll have to see if they're interested in coming to the tournament. TL;DR: I put a lot of thought into my posts. Please read them before responding, even if they seem long. I try to make my posts useful and worth the time. Like NERVs? Try my new app! - My customs |

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Oh, just realized that possible army-switching only begins with the second round. First round everybody plays with his own army? So that still encourages people to bring grade A tourney cheese, since it's statistically likely that a player will play with his own army more times than against it.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Yeah, but if you bring A+ superjunk statistically that would make going only 3-2 a pretty strong possibility, and I doubt that batting .600 wins the whole thing.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
I assume this is a "no C3V/SoV tournament", since the rules did not allow them. With all the new figures being released right now, it could be a lot of fun to play with them at this tournament.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Sure, but bringing nothing but Roman Archers makes going 2-3 a pretty strong possibility, which is clearly worse. Everything between A+ and F will fall somewhere between 3-2 and 2-3. So statistically the best choice is still to bring the cheesiest army possible.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
I'd say the best choice is bring something that you think you can play at B+ level, but that you think everyone else will only be able to play at C level.
Imo, the considerations are surprisingly different for this version of RtW than the GenCon version, where you know when your playing who's army. |

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Tricky or complex to manage armies are probably the best. If your opponent draws your army he could mess up with starting zone placement or during the match.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Hmm, and most cheese armies are easy to play.... I'm beginning to see what you guys mean.
So what's super-duper-cosmically-powerful, yet insanely difficult to juggle? |

And with those previous comments, I realize that I need to do even more studying in order to compete on even grounds with everyone else.

Or use a D20 army and make sure you bring your loaded lucky D20.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD'11
Time to decide on a few more maps...if no-one is against it I'd like to offer up my Killbox Valley 2.0. If not that's ok too, but I need to bring at least a couple of the maps, so don't everyone snap up the next ones Ronin picks before I get a chance to offer to bring them!
