Week@HS Revival - Week #20

Posted May 25th, 2013 at 11:50 AM by truth

C3G
This week, C3G brings you a Super Secret Release, the Armored Antagonists! So for the next couple weeks, we will bring each one up into the limelight for all to admire.
First up is the Iron Patriot! With his Chaotic Leadership ability, Osborne has a chance to move his troops forward early into the battle, but only if the initiative is on his side. With his Master Motivator ability he can take a turn with another unique hero after he inflicts a few wounds, which is added by the classic ability of Double Attack. Put it all together and you get a Unstable Leader that is ready to lead his Dark Avengers!

VC
Public playtesting is the peanut butter to the C3V's bread, and as thanks to the public playtesters out there, the VC team has come up with a new use of the C3VRP system: Variant Cards! If you want a C3V card to display a different miniature, simply send the Art Department a pm and cash in your hard-earned points. Check out the official announcement HERE.

The SoV is proud to announce the summoning of qt.bangerang's Kantono Daishi to Valhalla! Kantono Daishi is a Jonin, a ninja leader, but also a Ronin, a samurai who has lost his honor and disgraced his daimyo.
The ninjas (excepting Isamu) have long been known as the solo heroes who aren't quite worth their points. No one would be friends with Kumiko, the elves kept making fun of Moriko's swords, and Einar never sent Shiori on missions. Kantono Daishi has met with these ninjas, and has offered them his leadership. Now, the ninjas are a force to be reckoned with, and residents of Valhalla can no longer sleep peacefully at night ...

Custom of the Week
This week we have another oldie but goldie: The Onyx Warlord by Rocktroll! With arm blades, press on nails for back plates and a snazzy new head crest, this is one Warlord you might not want to call mittens to his face!
And don't forget the rest of Rocktroll's customs!

Map of the Week
This week, we bring you a map from long-time member Nyys, Ice Labrynth!
With plenty of LoS blockers and windy pathways, this map is just like it's name would denote. On top of that, it is symmetrical for fair and fun gameplay!

Custom SuperScape Creation
This week we bring you a special duo by Hi1hi1hi1hi1, Hal Chandler and 3-D Man!
Hal Chandler can give Skrulls a wallop with his Skrull Sense 1, giving him 3 attack against those pesky aliens! He can then Summon 3-D Man and put
him on the board!
3-D Man can use his advanced Skrull Sense 3 to cause the Skrulls even more trouble, while he uses Shard of Light to be a pain to any opponent. At the end of the round his Limited Consciousness has Hal replace 3-D Man on the board, letting the deadly cycle start all over again!

Fan Fic of the Month
This week we bring you an ancient tale, back from the old days. And by old we mean 2006. Having achieved a rating of a very solid five out of five, it has been decided to bring your attention to the epic tale: The Trials of Syvarris. In fact, there are three tales, starting with this one, followed by The Fall of Valhalla and concluded with The Flag-Beaer Wars. The last two received a 4.5 and another 5, in that order. You can easily find these tales in the index, which is at the top of the fan art/fiction forum. Unfortunately, the author of these incredible works, Darconus, has not been seen for some time.

Leader Interview
With the 20th week of the revival of This Week@Heroscapers upon us, we wanted to honor the past leaders of W@HS by interviewing them and dedicating a special article to them. First, our current leader, Fi Skirata, interviewed S1R_ART0R1US!
Fi Skirata: Who are you really?

S1R_ART0R1US: I'm a college senior studying chemical engineering out in California, about to take on the "real world".

Fi Skirata: When did you join Week@HSers?

S1R_ART0R1US: September 2008. Doesn't seem that long ago though!

Fi Skirata: What is/was your favorite part of working on Week@HSers?

S1R_ART0R1US: Scouring through the threads-it gave me a bigger purpose for browsing the boards as I was looking for things that other 'Scapers would find cool.

Fi Skirata: What do you think you helped Week@HSers to accomplish during your leadership?

S1R_ART0R1US: I think that W@HSers really started delivering content consistently under my leadership (although I certainly did not initiate members taking up the responsibility). Just looking through the dates of W@HSers posts you can get a good sense of this. And you never know what cool stuff you'll find from so long ago!

Fi Skirata: If there was a section from Week@HSers past you could bring back, what would it be?

S1R_ART0R1US: The NecroPost of the week. This was by far my favorite section as it brought up a lot of old valuable insight about the game. I feel it helped me to "stand on the shoulder of giants" and understand the community and game more.

A close favorite was the Thread of the Week. It was great seeing new posts in those threads once the story was posted, as it showed that people actually liked what we put out!

Fi Skirata: In closing, do you have any message to give to the Week@HSers crew and/or the community as a whole?

S1R_ART0R1US: Community isn't just important for HS, it's important for life. Without others to help guide you (not always in unit selection, but things like career and mate selection), you're missing out on a lot of insight you can't always see yourself. I urge the community to continue working and playing together in support of HeroScape and the unique community it has spawned.

Fi Skirata: Thank you for making the time in what sounds like a very busy schedule to answer our interview and we at 'Week wish you luck in your College endeavors!
NecroPost of the Week
In thanks to S1R_ART0R1US, we bring the NecroPost of the Week back for one time only! When opening at the Heroscape: Rise of the Valkyrie Master Set for the first time, Mimring was pretty cool, but it was Agent Carr who swept people off their feet. That black trenchcoat, a sword of reckoning, those dark shades ... despite 13 official waves Agent Carr remains the most awesome character in the game. The thread Just How Awesome is Agent Carr? lists a collection of Chuck Norris-like facts about everyone's favorite Agent.

Miscellaneous

... Suit Up Here ... (Click for Details)
[Systems not Cooperating? ... Here is Jarvis ...]
The Curse of Ne-Gok-Sa is an online strategy game in the flavor of Mafia and Werewolf.

You are warriors of Jandar, Ullar, Aquilla, Einar, or maybe Vydar. You have been trapped by the evil Ne-Gok-Sa, he could finish you if he wants, but he would rather toy with your life, so he offers you ... a deal. He has Mind Shackled several of you. As a warrior your job is to find the puppets and eliminate them; however, the puppets are also out to get you. They will pretend to befriend you, try to get you to trust them, and through deceit and treachery will attempt to vanquish the warriors! You must find the puppets ... before it's too late. If you find the puppets, Ne-Gok-Sa will set you free ... you have his word ... whatever that's worth ...

Editor's note
We will continue back through our history bringing you new Leader Interviews and a special article every week, so stay tuned!

Awesome stuff from each section, although a note the VC section seems to have the same paragraph about variant cards twice.

just when i made one

I just made an Iron Patriot(from scratch)
right before I could post it to. I made a clay mold of Iron Man, filled it with boiling wax, painted it gray, covered it with super glue, then epoxy touch up, then painted it. and c3g made a figure.

Can your opponent move order markers to destroyed army cards with chaotic leadership? I think it still counts as under your control, but I'm not sure

You can only "control" an army card if it has at least one of its figures left on the battlefield.

And I absolutely agree with awesomeunleashed's answer about figures you "control."

That Ronin design is completely awesome. VC is doing an incredible job of making old designs more viable.
C3G's Hand Ninja have a very similar power and made the classic ninjas much more fun to run(you can always have one unrevealed OM on Shiori and still take turns).
Now classic(VC) has their own figure to fill this niche, well done!

I like the two cards, however, why does the art on the Hal Chandler card remind me of Jonny Quest?

I never knew my card was featured! Thank you so much truth! 3-D Man and Hal were my first Super customs!

Heroscape has been a big part of my life (on and off) for 8+ years now. I know that wouldn't be as possible without this wonderful community. Until next time...
