Why are you reading this?
Practice noob-post responses.

Okay kids, I've compiled a list of the various bad responses that often occur when an unsuspecting noob wanders onto this site.
How could one respond to such a post?
I'm asking you guys, how would you respond to this? A kind response? A guiding response? A response that puts that noob in his place? A combination of all three?
I want to develop a good stock response that should/could be used when a similar question is asked. So we don't get noobs whining that this site is unwelcoming/unhelpful.

I'd say: Welcome to the site, Hypothetical Noob. To answer your question, the answer is no. Remember that special attacks never receive height advantage. Also, on this site proper grammar and capitalization is appreciated and expected. Just try your best with spelling. |

Truthfully, I would fix his mistakes by quoting him and then bolding all of the changes I made. Then I would make a joke at his supense, then I would welcome him, apologizing for being a jerk. Then I would link him to a good answer.
I'm an all-in-one package. |

I'm a puppy. I'd probably just go with the "Unhelpful Welcomer" approach, sad to say... perhaps I'll add a helpful link or answer in there from now on. |

I'd tell him this: Special Attacks don't ever get hight. Also, please try your best with spelling and grammer.

The BACK button on my browser. That's what it's there for, folks.
(Although I'm just as likely to simply quote his post and say, "No.") |

Was that a joke? If not, it's even funnier. |

Well, when I first joined it seemed as if Cav and Onacara like to use there neg rep button on n00bs. Or maybe just on me
I dont know, but that really made me sit up in my seat, and re-read through the instruction booklet before I went post a question. OR If I had a custom idea I will think through it to see if it make sence before posting it. THanks to the anonamous neg reppers who thought I just waisted their time. I find the hard way is better. I guess I'd welcome him to the site, give him a helpful answer, and then point out that members around here appreciate well thought out posts and spelling.

As I have done before, I would post a link to a thread with the answer, quoting the answer, welcome him/her, and then comment on their grammar, using my best grammar as well, spellchecking. Then I'd make fun of 'em, and post, then angrily edit in an image of a ninja () saying that, most likely Cav, ninja'd me in my attempt to be cool. Which failed horribly. |

Actually, the 'and post' was the only thing that should have been changed. The rest was fine. I see how you read it differently, but don't read 'quoting the answer' as part of the list, but as an unneeded part of the sentence about what I would do to the answer. I would post the link to where I GOT the quote. Geez, puppy!

Elffy, your tenses were off. You went from past tense to present tense inappropriately with that "quoting."

Ohhhh goodness. I am back after a six month hiatus, and, well, some things never change. Like drunken pirate ninjas.
Or n00b-tastic haters. |
