The Tabletop Simulator Link is here for playtesting purposes

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

I've played 6 games total on this map as it's been tweaked along the way. I really like where it is now.

I also have this built on my table now so we can check the box for the requirement for a physical build.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

I dig this map. :-D Glad I sold you on the Spidey-themed name. I know I've played on it at least once on TTS, but pretty sure that was a four player game, so I'm happy to test this in a 1v1 setting for this LD.

The cars are Large, right?

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

Looks like a fun map to me!

I think I'd list the DO sizes in the Map Set up section rather than have it in spoilers.

Are the mailbox, pigs, & trash can things you want included? If so I'd just list them as a small or medium DO of your choice in those spots. Then people can use whatever they have on hand that would qualify as that size.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

the Pigs...not really. That was more a joke. The mailboxes and trash cans I think totally should be there as medium objects. The Fire Hydrant I could go either way. I do plan to design a DO for the Fire Hydrants pretty soon as a way for Aquaman Types to manufacture water on a map with little water.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

Looks like a cool map!

My one concern is that it looks like there are 2 areas of height on opposite sides of the map, each close to one start zone. Is camping on that height an optimal strategy?

The real height is at the mid board on the sides. The concrete laterally across from the start zones is only Height 2.

Between the houses is the only area above 2

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

So I did pull all the other DO's off of the map. I wasn't sure how to more forward with that kind of stuff. I can add them back in. Should we list them as optional DOs?

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

hey that's just my opinion...if folks don't want them that's fine too.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

The rock and grass by the cars was what I meant. That area might be centrally located enough to not matter too much, though.

Cool either way on DOs! I'm generally in favor of things being toggleable if that's an option.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

I'm generally in favor of the map specifying the "intended" way to play and our being consistent with that and just understanding that the end user can and should do what they want.

If it's intended to play with DOs, I'd list them as being on there and list what sizes, etc. they are.

I think it makes sense to balance maps around one version and to let the end user customize them away from that "official" version on their own if they like. :2cents:

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

So does it make more sense to just list the object by size? So instead of say 1 medium mailbox, just say a medium object? That way you can use whatever you have on hand? So this map would have 4 medium objects. On Virtual Scape it could just be listed as a generic color/start zone dot.

Yeah then you could do mailbox, trashcans, random crates, fire hydrant...etc. whatever you want. Good call.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

That is what I would do, rather than say people must find a specific generic object to buy in order to use the map.

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

I dunno, people can/should obviously proxy DOs like any other figures, but I think it loses some flavor not to specify the type of object. Also the more we can play similarly shaped things, the more consistent the map balance is across users. :2cents:

So maybe I can specify what objects I used, but under the special rules area I can put that you may sub in any object of equal size

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

VS file, PDF file and TTS workshop have all been updated to include Mailbox and Trash Can objects.

I Propose a Vote for Initial Playtesting

Re: Your Friendly Neighborhood Map - Design

yea

Though I'd argue I already did that :D
