Which sport is the most boring to watch?

Which sport is the least entertaining?

Any and All.

Why was this not an option? I would've created multiple accounts just to pump up the vote count on that one.

Although due to my lack of creativity, people would've soon figured out that ej1, ej2, ej05 and ej_a might've been connected somehow.

You spend more time hating sports than I spend enjoying them.

Let it go. Take a deep breath. Do something you like and be happy about it.

I've never actually seen it, but I imagine test cricket would be incredibly boring to watch. This is a baseball-like game that's played over a period of several days with tea breaks. Take that, Baseball!

KS Ranjitsinhji at the beginning of the last century said:
[Cricket] is among the most powerful links which keep our Empire together. It is one of the greatest contributions, which the British people have made, to the cause of humanity.

Taken from this article.

A search inexplicably failed to turn up a thread devoted to cricket. However, this seemed a sufficiently appropriate thread to remind anyone not paying attention to the greatest of all sports that the 2000th test match starts tomorrow at Lord's between England and India.

I hope you'll be following along. I will.

Is this it?

As for the thread's question, that's easy for me. Soccer. I enjoy playing (not that I have in years) but I can't watch for more than a minute or two... on second thought, make that about 30 seconds.

After my last post, I assume you've all been following along with the twists and turns of this test. It's been a great one, and I suspect you're all anticipating the final day tomorrow as breathlessly as I am. Truly, this is the pinnacle of sport.

I know every American (almost) loves Football but it is the slowest most boring sport ever. You run around with the ball for 20-30 seconds then wait 4-8 minutes to do that again and once in a while someone will get some kind of point.

Great sports quotes of our times (our times being today):

Matt Prior said:
I wasn't really expecting to be batting before lunch. I was looking at the lunch menu and thinking I would have the rack of lamb and suddenly I was out in the middle taking my guard.

Actually it's more like 3-4 seconds per play. 8)

Just more proof football is a boring sport. 11 minutes of play time in 3 hours and 56% of the time showing replays? Yeah.

I understand people enjoy watching, but I'm not a fan.

This might be suprising, but I actually voted basketball. In basketball, pretty much every play/series/possesion or whatever they're called is the same, dribble down, shoot.

I really don't understand why there are so many votes for soccer, there are at least varieties in the playstyle and a decent sized field unlike basketball or hockey. Of course, I am a long-time (and currently playing) soccer player, so I understand what's happening.

When I saw this thread pop up again, I was hoping for a discussion of Dravid's ongoing masterclass in test match batting. Is there any other sport where tribalism so easily gives way to appreciation of the opponents' skill as test cricket?

I used to think Soccor (futbol) was boring but now I enjoy watching (still not as much as American Football even though there is only 11 minutes of play time as anticipation heightens excitement).

I used to like watching baseball but now I think it is the most boring to watch. Being at an actual game is fun, but that is because I enjoy things like buying snacks from vendors, people watching, doing the wave, and betting on whether the catcher throws the ball on the mound at the end of an inning more than the actual game, so minor league $3 ticket games are just as entertaining as major league $30+ ticket games, but watching a game on TV is more boring to me than watching a live fishing or hunting show unedited (where they catch something every couple hours and sit there the rest of the time).

For most entertaining, I would vote X-games style such as Skateboarding, BMX, Blading, Motocross, Waveboarding, Snowboarding, etc.

Well met!

I voted for Golf, but you should have included BOWLING!

Completely unrelated to this topic, but the England/Pakistan test matches started last night. I'm reading the as-it-happened commentary now.

I voted for soccer apparently, but I personally don't think that ANY sports are interesting to watch.

Golf: I'd rather watch grass grow.
Tennis: Wii tennis is fun. Watching 'real' tennis? Not so much.
Football: I'd rather watch golf, believe it or not. Or maybe I'm just one of those guys who doesn't enjoy watching big sweaty guys tackle each other into the dirt just so they can grab a BALL and RUN REALLY FAST to drop the ball onto the other end of the field.
Soccer: People still watch this?
Basketball: Watching really tall guys try to drop a ball into a basket.....exciting...
Aquatics: Of those listed, this is actually the most interesting to watch IMO.
Figure skating: Two-person figure skating is fine. Dull, but fine. One-person figure skating is just dull.

LOL, unless it is Spud Webb, who won a slam dunk contest despite being only 5 feet 7 inches tall:

I suspect a trampoline in the court...

Pretty much all sports are boring to watch. Sports exist to be played, watching them is just stupid. Except for women's beach volleyball. ;)

I still vote: FISHING - don't understand it

That's not a sport, that's what we do with the boring people to keep them busy. JK, I'm sure fisherpersons have some reason or other for doing it.

It is my understanding they make money at this and the are decked out like NASCAR drivers so they also are getting supplies and equipment plus more money.... I just don't have any desire to watch them fish nor do I know why anyone else would.

I think the sports listed in the poll are all fine... typically if someone is good at something and excells I can probable watch it and admire what they are doing and enjoy watching them perform ...... but fishing still makes no sense to me yet they have sponsers who will will pay to put it on TV and I assume people that watch.

I think most of it is social. I'm guessing your parents didn't regularly have sports on when you were a kid, and the friends you made in middle or high school don't talk about them much.
