Sorry if I wasn't clear Alex, but I meant read Jexik's post for some really good advice on army building.

Can't Roman Legionnaires, Sacred Band, and Goblin Cutters also be Defenders (AKA Screen). For instance, if you play ranged squads/heroes you might want 2 squads of Legos/Sacred band as a screen and if you have Horned Skull Brutes, you basically use the Goblins as mobile wound markers. Obviously you can build an army around Legos & sacred band and they are Bread and Butter, but they seem to be more common as Defenders in the current standard match-up Metagame, correct?

Yeah it depends on the army.

Romans + Redcoats, they'd be more of a screen.

I also tend to dislike those kinds of builds. Marcus + Me Burq Sa + Airborne Elite + 2x 4th Mass + 2x Romans was actually the "good" army that inspired this article originally.

Old Battle Report which hardly anyone read.

It's not clear from your report how close to the front lines you placed your AE, that Braxas got to them so fast. But, then again, if they had been placed differently, you may never have written this excellent article!

They were near my other units. The map was pretty small and Braxas can fly to much of the map in 2 OMs.

Yes. And welcome to the site, wolfking!

EDIT: Yes, I am foolish

I welcomed Jexik on accident, instead of WK...

Jexik, are you planning to add SoV/C3V customs to that list? After all, they are the continuation of HeroScape.

Just a thought. :D

you act as if having more of the same common helps so, are you allowed to to use all of your figures on a common? e.g. if I have 3 rat cards can I use 9 rats?

No, even if you have 3 Rat cards, you would still only be able to activate 4 of your 12 rats. However, if one dies you can still move 4 rats, unlike how the Unique Squads work. :)

No.

I've not played with those figures, so I won't discuss how to use them. I don't play Heroscape very much at all anymore.

The main lesson of the article isn't the list at the bottom or end of each section but to learn how to make an army so that you can get the most out of your activations.

Right. What makes common-based offenses powerful is how they can absorb casualties and still get their full number of attacks per turn. Unique Squads are a risk because their offense is drastically reduced by casualties, while Unique Heroes are risky because although their offense is not reduced incrementally, they are a high risk for losing entire turns (order markers) when they fall.

How I wish I could have my vote back! I voted back when I first came to the site and didn't use order markers, so this didn't use to pertain to me.

Colors make me dizzy

If it makes you feel any better I can't even vote on this because the multiple-colored text basically makes this unreadable for me. :p

This is really helpful. I sometimes skip using order markers in small matches, but when I play competitively, they are very important. Units that rely on other unit and blah blah blah. Order markers as very useful and so is this article ;)

Does anyone know if someone ever did this for C3V/SoV units?
OEAO's Power Rankings list each figure in the color of their classification.

EDIT: Except he doesn't include C3V figures. @dok did power rankings for the C3V figures. His OP doesn't include their classifications, but they are visible for some figures in the spoiler for his old rankings.
