I'm sure his powers will need some work, but I wanted to get this up and rolling.

Are there Keywords or or other Symbols needed here?

In C3G1 we kinda treated “magical” lightning/fire/etc. as different from “natural” versions pf those elements. Do we want to do that in 2.0?

This is where we last left Thor in the workshop thread. The change to the first power is why testing was asked for.

GOD OF THUNDER STRIKE
Once per game, instead of Thor’s Attack Phase, you may roll a d20 for all figures within 2 spaces, one at a time. If you roll:
•12-14, the figure receives 1 Electric wound;
•15-17, the figure receives 2 Electric wounds; or
•18+, the figure receives 3 Electric wounds.

MJOLNIR SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 6+Special. Attack 4.
Before attacking, you may choose a non-adjacent figure within 6 clear sight spaces and any number of figures adjacent to Thor to affect with this attack.

And I think as the 'God of Thunder' he'd get the Electric Resistance symbol but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Thanks for the reminder!

Only wording nitpick I have is in the special attack it should be "clear spaces" instead of "clear sight spaces." :)

We didn't have a very clean approach to damage types in 1.0. I think it's way more fun if we embrace them here. He's not the "God of Magical Thunder," he's the "God of Thunder." So presumably he uses actual real thunder and lightning, it's just magic that allows him to do so.

I'm 100% in favor of his doing Electrical damage and having Electrical Resistance.

He should also probably have the Royal keyword (he is part of a royal court and all in Asgard) and this starting up reminded me we'd discussed having Deity as a keyword. Are we still wanting to do that? I could definitely see a use for someone like Gorr, for instance.

NP, thanks for taking this one on!

:word:

Excited to see it rolling!

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Design

Are we okay with the wording here?

Am I just waiting for some playtesting/sanity testing? If so can I get started using the current On deck units as teammates?

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Design

Yea to play testing.

Mostly just some sanity tests are all that is needed here to see if the change to his lightening power makes his points go up or stay the same.

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Design

Should the Mjolnir SA be electric damage? I always thought it was just physical force causing the damage for that SA.

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Design

Yeah, I think you’re right. Probably only the thunder strike should be.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: The main purpose of this test was to try out the new version of God of Thunder Strike special power. I think the change is great and it's a much more useful and forgiving power. It's still a once a game power and I don't think it should effect his current cost. Personally I never used the old power because the attack of 8 is just too tempting vs trying to get rolls over 16. This is a little more likely to hit, as it should be. I feel very comfortable moving forward with Thor at 430 points.

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Playtest complete

Nice work!

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Playtest complete

Do we want anymore tests here?

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Playtest complete

If you're comfortable moving forward, I am. I'm guessing he'll get more run as a unit in other playtests, so if concerns pop up between now and the Starter Deck release, we can always readjust.

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Playtest complete

Changes look good.

Should Thor have electric resistance? I'm not as familiar with the comics Thor, but I thought in Ragnarok he got tazed a few times on the gladiator planet.

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Playtest complete

I propose a vote to move to final editing

Re: Thor (Thor Odinson) - Vote for Final Editing

I know he can specifically manipulate electricity and absorb energy into his hammer within battle. Resistance isn't the same as immunity and I don't think he's immune to it, but possibly specifically positioned to handle it well.

yea

Ha, Quora sends me emails that I sometimes randomly end up clicking on, and they just answered this for me the other day - the MCU control disks (according to a random Quora user) apparently are toxin-based, not electricity-based. They’re closer to a bee sting.
